Rob came with me for today's run - probably for the first time in a couple of years! It felt weird and good. I have noticed that I get more nervous throughout the day when Euan is gone - these hormones are powerful things! In my head I trust his daycare and he is happier every day so far, I'm not actually nervous, but my body is. It's insane. I guess this is what happens after you spend almost six months without any time apart.

Run in the rain! I finally made this run long enough to start the A to Z project, although now Bridget reminded me about City Strides existence for the tenth time I may just go for completion of the city - it does look to be possible in Salem which is cool, and there's only one slightly dodgy part of town which should still be fine to run through. I think the rain inspired me because this felt much better than I expected and I could probably have gone longer, but then I remembered I tend to knock myself out for Sunday and just did the planned amount. It's so nice to be cool again.

The destination was Aberdeen street which was a pretty non-descript back street with someone slamming doors very loudly on it. Saw some weird gentrification in a random place and an amazing garden full of butternut squash vines.

I feel quite motivated by this project! Thanks Bridget!

Note

It's been a good week. The two days Euan has gone to daycare have allowed for some work catch up and actual relaxation and my mental state in general is much better. I've enjoyed every little run I've done this week. But weirdly the physiological signs of anxiety are back - the stuff I saw the speech therapist for in my first year in Boston. Trying to remember the exercises she gave me (it mostly derives from neck tension) but struggling - probably need to get a telehealth appointment to remind myself. This is pretty frustrating because I'm not feeling the other parts of anxiety - I'm actually sleeping well, I can focus at the work I have...but it's clearly still there.

And we very much lucked out because it turns out Euan is the loveliest baby. I guess all you parents remember that feeling of not thinking you can possibly love them any more, and then somehow loving them more the next day. It's amazing stuff.

Around Forest River waiting for Ariana and Sam to arrive. Brought the wrong mask and it was really hard to run, had to keep letting in some fresh air when no one was around. We did two laps the man sat on a hill. Euan got to say hi to another kid his age today! It was amazing watching him try to communicate in raspberries, waving and eeuughhhhh sounds. Sam is babbling and it is ridiculously cute. They both settled on raspberries and had a raspberry conversation and my heart melted. We should do this many more times before it gets too cold for other people.

Also Forest River has great contours and would make a really fun sprint map.

I'm in a down cycle again. We were considering going home once our green cards arrives, which should be any day, but get this. Green cards are currently not being issued because they ended their contract with the secure document printer, and they don't yet have other options.

We have paid thousands of dollars for this. It's just insult upon insult right now and we're so close to being done.

We just found out we live in Zone A (as do most people in Boston) and are guessing that's why we were refused insurance from national companies. The local ones didn't care, presumably because they wouldn't be able to ensure any multimillion dollar Back Bay apartments if that were the case! We're not in a FEMA insurance zone and had checked sea level rise maps, so we were a bit surprised to discover that we are Evacuation Zone A while our neighbors across the street are B!
