We had a lovely quiet Christmas at home. Euan got very overstimulated early on and Christmas dinner was eaten on the sofa with him fast asleep on Granny, after fighting naps for a few hours! He then slept for most of the afternoon.

He is starting to sleep longer at night, and somehow I feel worse because I think I'm starting to catch up. Fingers crossed I start to feel better soon because I really am getting enough sleep now, with only 1 or 2 wake ups.

His insides seem to be functioning much better, much less mucus in his poo and much happier demeanor in general. I can't say dairy free is getting much easier but it does seem it is worth it. Of course a bllion other things have also changed so we'll try a reintroduction with a single feed of old stored breastmilk in another couple of weeks to test it out.

He has almost got his thumb into his mouth - he manages to bring his left hand to his mouth and lick it, but hasn't figured out how to unclench his fist yet. This development is really quite amazing! He's forgotten how to roll though and makes very frustrated noises when trying :)

Ten more days with Granny and Grandad then Nana and Papa arrive and I have to go back to work part time. Bring on the daycare bugs!

Does anyone know if they plough the roads at Breakheart?

After a week of inconsolable screaming and weird poops the doctor finally recommended cutting dairy from my diet. It’s so much more difficult to feed myself during the day and he still isn’t sleeping much at night. Eliminating dairy is harder than GD, and I am frustrated with dietary restrictions. Can’t just eat vegan when you eat out as soy is also a potential issue. Not that things are going well enough for us to eat out anytime soon anyway.

I’m worn out but I only have one more week at home with him alone. Christmas and then daycare three days a week in January. I knew this would be tough but the overwhelming exhaustion is much worse than I expected.

We’re getting smiles and babbling now and he’s rolling one way. We also need to get him to sleep out of a swaddle for daycare / rolling. It is overall getting easier but the exhaustion is compounding to make me feel worse.

I want my Mum.

Finding it hard today.

Recovery 45:00 [0]

Physics appointment. Today worked on stretching upper body ( Euan has spent most of the week not wanting to be put down) and activating the transverse abdominus. Rob stayed home today so I could go alone and it was lovely. Weather too gross for Euan to be outside so glad to get out of the house.

I ran for four minutes out of 20 (on purpose) and my god they were some of the best four minutes of 2019. Had a horrible night and a crappy day thanks to having to drive to downtown Boston with the little guy, and I needed that.

Physio 45:00 [0]

Post-partum physio appointment. The good news is that I'm still in pretty good shape - I have a little bit of upper abs separation, but it's firm underneath so should hopefully regain full core function there. No surprises, hip flexors and right hamstring still tight. She assessed strength and flexibility and has skipped me forwards a few weeks in exercises. Glad to have made the appointment.

Little guy also had his two month vaccinations this morning and despite a HUGE scream for a short time in the office he's dealt with them like a champ. However I did choose cuddles on the couch over MamaStrong when we got back, which was absolutely the right decision. Currently writing this snowed in on Tuesday, watching him wake himself up from a nap on the baby monitor by trying to poop/fart. Come on little guy, you've done it hundreds of times now already!

Rubbish walking 1:00:00 [0]

Around the graveyard before the dark brings the storm. Euan still very sleepy today - hoping we can still make it to his two month appointment tomorrow to discuss a few things. He slept terribly last night so it's probably just that. Was trying to poop all night and despite bicycle legs and tummy pushes nothing was coming out. It did come out this afternoon and was happy to see his first normal colored poop after this cold he's had. I was not liking the idea of a milk protein allergy...

This morning we went to Beverly Tree Farm to cut down our first family Christmas tree. Hopefully the start of a new tradition! We also have a fantastic tree outside that is the perfect shape for lights - not going to hang them till this weather has come through though!

It's December?! How the hell did that happen?
