Note

Walked in this morning - I'm getting tired. Might try the orange line tomorrow but I hear it's impossible to get on at rush hour from Community College.

Cycling 35:00 [2]

Easier cycle home. From the number of cars with decals parked in the bike lane it doesn't seem that the Uber/Lyft stroke today had much effect. Mass Ave was particularly "fun". Also amazed how many pedestrians walk in a clearly marked (green with big bike symbols) bike lane right next to a huge footpath lane with headphones in and absolutely zero awareness of anyone else. How don't people get hit? My hubway doesn't stop that quickly!

ahr:126 max:150

Went into work for "one hour" this morning and then had to do a hungry dash to Northeastern in time for the afternoon Keynote. It's quite pleasant cycling in the middle of the day.

Was up early today and it was a lovely morning so walked over to Northeastern and enjoyed the morning. Cycled back on a Hubway - can do almost the whole thing on separated lanes and off road, which is pretty great.

Into Northeastern and back. On the way there dumped my bike as soon as I got off the river and walked the rest, but had a feeling there was no need as there are now reasonable bike lanes on Mass Ave. So on the way back took the southwest corridor path to Mass Ave, Mass Ave to the river, and then in North Point took the left fork under the highway. That was an error, getting across the road midway between Community College and the Charlestown Bridge was terrible - pedestrian lights that allow you to cross single lanes then wait for two mins for the next one, and really angry drivers. Missed the first walk sign because two guys were having a road rage face off about both of them being in the wrong lane and trying to switch, and they had not even noticed the walk sign was on and kept screeching forwards. Won't do that again even if I have to go to Whole Foods!

Orienteering at Menotomy after the first Youth Training session of the year. A small group of keen older kids, should be fun.

I tried to keep up with them a couple of times and it was not easy - very out of breath! Luckily I still read a map much faster :)

I love Menotomy - it's a great place to coach and also tricky enough to catch out an advanced orienteer too.
