The massage therapist at the airport and the speech therapist for the lump in my throat have both told me that everything is extremely tight. So this morning I tried to keep the run recovery and loose, and I think it worked. Consciously relaxing shoulders and all that jazz. Lovely morning.

Legs did not want to play ball today but really enjoyed being out in Rocky Woods - top little area and a fun course that made the most of the best bits. I had a couple of shocking legs and some dithering ones, but mostly it was just the legs. Sitting on planes for 7 hours is bad.

Final spin around the moor - sorry to be leaving. Home is a fantastic place for trail running. Cold still seems to be on the edge of really turning into something - maybe I will escape?!

Woke up at 7.40 this morning without an alarm, so figured I'm starting to feel better! Run on the moor which was tough at the start but got easier. Great views, bit blustery!
Had a nice lie in this morning then spent the whole morning with Mum making apple juice with home grown apples. It was fun! And tastes delicious. After that took a stroll with Dad around the Moor, who's up to an hour of walking on tricky ground and still doing remarkably well. Then wandered over to Jen's to deliver her some "sleepy juice: (Nyquil), because she's got a terrible cold. Felt a bit too delicate to run today but it was lovely to be outside plenty on a glorious autumn day.
Breakfast with Lobban, lunch will Ellen, dinner with Mhairi in Glasgow. Wonderful. The train to Glasgow is over ten times faster than my commute home in Boston.

Thirty days of kettlebells is not designed for people also doing other stuff! Running today was exceptionally tough, and the weather was getting worse and worse. I found a nearly dead sheep and had to call mum to call the farmer, which was unpleasant. I thought it was completely dead then it blinked and I didn't feel I could just leave it.
Made it to Haworth to get the Bronte bus to Hebden, and will have a bit of a rest now I'm home and the storm has moved in!

1.2 miles of tempo with warm up and warm down. Knew I wasn't up for a non-biased tempo, so planned a route where I knew there would be plenty of down hill (a little bit technical, not just flat paving) and some flat, not much up. It was fun! Got some fast Strava segments despite stiles and gates and things, and feeling generally the best I have since I arrived.
There are so many fantastic options for running from home. It's great.

Day 4 of kettlebells. Could definitely do with a wider variety of kettlebell weights!

Up to the top of the Moors, then 6 x 90(30s) in the glorious warm sunshine. I have found the first thing that's better in Boston - people generally are in more control of their dogs! Many over zealous doggy encounters today despite trying actively to avoid the ones I saw. The gorse is flowering and I could see for miles - it was great!

Day 2 of 30 days of Kettlebells. It was quite boring and tough on the thighs.

Adriene was tough enough today that AP thought this was strength, not yoga.

Run over the moors to Jen and Pete's house. Forgot where quite a lot of the paths were. Windy but warm out there - lovely to be back on the hill tops.

A session from 30 Days of Kettlebells with a 10kg Kettlebell that Jen lent me. Was supposed to do 4 rounds but only did 3 - 10kg was a bit much for the arm ones.

Dad's doing great! I took a mid afternoon run around the golf course, which was easier than I was expecting from yesterday but not as easy as it should have been. Lots of families with dogs out.
Went to see the Guilty Feminist in Manchester in the evening, and ate a tasty curry. Good day.

We weren't allowed to call till 10.30 today so went to Keelham Farm Shop and then I ran back to Jen's. I was super tired today but it was nice to be moving on beautiful familiar ground, and good that it was mostly downhill! I was so tired that I converted pounds to kilos the wrong way in my head at the Farm Shop and ended up with 2 kilos of sausages instead of half a kilo. We now have a new family joke and I've been happy to be the cause of light relief on a tough couple of days.
When we called at 10.30 they said Dad was doing great and ready to be discharged in the afternoon. He was looking fantastic when we arrived despite very little sleep, and after I was taught how to do the blood thinner injection we were out of there. Everyone very happy and relieved. I'm going to join Dad in taking some time out for myself the next couple of weeks too I think!
Up early to take Dad in to the BRI. He was whisked into surgery before 8am and in recovery two hours later, and was stable within ten minutes of coming out of anaesthesia. Of course this is the NHS so we didn't know that till 3pm. So some worried walking around Chellow Dean and then heading home for a bit. Very glad it all went smoothly, and left Dad in the hospital at 7pm before coming home and collapsing.
Mostly a traveling day. Nice flight, actually made it to deep sleep for the first time ever on a flight according to the Garmin. Walked from Paddington to Kings Cross, then got the train to Bingley, meeting Mum and Dad in Leeds. Quiet evening in with the whole family before a welcome night's sleep.

I was tired and decided to just jog slowly and see how far I got, and the answer was Snickers.

Oh man, totally turning into a yoga person. Today's was mostly focussed on breathing and almost meditation, and it felt rejuvenating rather than boring.
Less rushed gym session - mostly upper body - fun but tough!

Very stressful day doing the financials of the grant I'm sending off. It got done but Rob took me to the Fells to calm down afterwards. It was cold and rainy and totally great.
