It's been a rest week and I had to take the two heatwave days off - just couldn't face it. The walking parts of my commute were bad enough. This morning was much fresher and it was a pleasure to be out - excited for the autumn!

Good strength session but my knee is hurting again - I've been bent over a computer all week and haven't been yoga-ing and stretching - must do this! Also get in some high quality rolling time.

I went orienteering! The map was about a decade out of date and the controls were mostly hidden, but my word that was a lot of fun. I ran hard, made a couple of silly errors, a couple of map unsure errors, and stopped to talk to Rob and help a girl. I was pretty much hitting the limits of my run hard ability by the end. Rob did the orange too and the bad map and hidden controls were not great for people new to the sport - he said he found a small handful of people circling each control site and looking confused at the trail junctions that had 4 trails in them instead of 2. I don't think maps should necessarily be completely over hauled for an event this size, but a sign warning people that there were lots of new trails and the veg was out of date would have been really great.

"Long" run into the gym. Still loving the mild sunshine, started off tired but was running pretty well by the end. Went to see Book of Mormon last night and I feel mentally refreshed having giggled a lot.

Session 3 - whizzed through as had to get to work.
I hope you've all seen the fantastic video and stills of the news interns running out of the Manafort trial to be the first to report the verdict - no phones allowed inside the building!

5 x 90(30)s into work in a rush to get to a meeting I only found out about at 7.45. It felt better than I thought it would when I left the house. The temperature is so much better!
Finally made it back to the gym. It is still full of summer bros.

Ran to the track in Medford. Cooler and lovelier.

I'm volunteering at a running program for people with traumatic brain injury and/or spinal problems. It's fun and I go around the track a lot. There were some faster bits and a lot of walking to these two sessions.

To meet Rachael, Alex, Mattie and Ali at the Fells. It turns out I can't do map memory anymore, or run up hills. But that's fine, because it was nice to spend ten minutes running in the forest and even nicer to hang out for the rest of the day. Mattie did an amazing job climbing up to the Tower twice!
We spent the weekend between Western Mass and VT. Tom had invited us to Double Edge theatre, and the plans were loose and I spent a lot of time tired and hungry. It was still nice to hang out with Tom and Nico and co, and the theatre was fun despite it being the worst weather they'd ever had for a performance. You could barely hear the performers above the rain and the pond was almost flooded by the end, but I think we'll be back to see them in better weather!
