Jog to the start with Ed.

Orienteering 41:42 intensity: (8 @0) + (11 @1) + (9 @2) + (17 @3) + (39:13 @4) + (1:44 @5) 4.32 km (9:39 / km) +44m 9:11 / km

The girls Classic race. I am happy to say I can still orienteer but my legs felt atrocious, no power in them at all. Need more sleep!

Running 18:14 intensity: (17 @0) + (19 @1) + (5:21 @2) + (10:37 @3) + (1:40 @4) 2.41 km (7:34 / km) +10m 7:24 / km
ahr:155 max:180 shoes: Integrators 5000

Very very short very very tired jaunt around a bit of Inshriach on one of the Lagganlia courses. It was a bit abortive because there was a man doing a scary amount of logging around numbers 1-4. I was exhausted so that was probably for the best.

Note

Actually slept for about 90 minutes on the plane having had the most pleasant overnight flight yet, and made it through yesterday till 7pm without napping. Even managed a very short run and lots of strolling with CJ. Now however I am wide awake at 4 because I can't stop going through today's plans in my head. Fancy a run but forgot to ask CJ how I would get back into her house after such a thing happening! So soon I can lug my bag across London to left luggage at King's Cross, go sit in the embassy for an undetermined amount of time, then fill what's left of the day with Natalie before the train to Edinburgh! Yey! Then lagganlia tomorrow with the Ed Meister!

Note

I am in Scotland! And Kirsten just brought my attention to BBC radio Scotland who are doing an 'orienteering anthems' phone in! Amazing!

Running 20:01 intensity: (23 @0) + (14 @1) + (7:36 @2) + (11:48 @3) 3.43 km (5:51 / km) +24m 5:39 / km
ahr:149 max:168 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Quick very tired jaunt from CJ's to try to wake me up. It kind of worked for another hour or so. Lovely day with tasty food and lots of strolling round parks.

Monday Jul 27, 2015 #

10 AM

Running 35:01 intensity: (36 @0) + (42 @1) + (11:17 @2) + (22:26 @3) 5.07 km (6:55 / km) +48m 6:36 / km
ahr:152 max:170

Final run around West Rock with Rob before leaving. We took it easy and it was muggy. Was so stiff at the start from all the standing and pipetting, felt much better by the end.

Aim for Scotland: Have fun every day and don't look at the results. They don't actually matter at all.

Cross Fit 5:01 intensity: (3:21 @0) + (1:31 @1) + (9 @2)
ahr:118 max:140

3 sets of: 8 weighted sit ups (2#!!), 4 press ups, 30 seconds plank. Bizarrely difficult.

Saturday Jul 25, 2015 #

Note

I did it! Though the half day was more of an out of the lab at 8.30pm day, but it's done.

Friday Jul 24, 2015 #

Note

I just ran into work! One more full day to go...
7 AM

Running 45:44 intensity: (18 @0) + (57 @1) + (5:21 @2) + (36:56 @3) + (2:12 @4) 7.94 km (5:45 / km) +60m 5:33 / km
ahr:157 max:178 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

I ran to work and then worked for another ten hours. I feel like I am going to be ill shortly. Only half a day more to go.

Thursday Jul 23, 2015 #

Note

Three ten hour days at work...can't face starting the next one yet. All on my feet except for lunch. Feet are throbbing now and I didn't sleep well last night. This is turning into one epic final week at work :(

Note

Just made it home. Thoroughly wrecked.

Monday Jul 20, 2015 #

6 PM

Running 25:09 intensity: (31 @0) + (1:30 @1) + (9:44 @2) + (13:24 @3) 4.01 km (6:16 / km) +27m 6:04 / km
ahr:149 max:170 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Easy run just as the heat was starting to break. What a day!

Cross Fit 34:36 intensity: (8:50 @0) + (2:39 @1) + (4:02 @2) + (19:05 @3)
ahr:141 max:173

Then Freeletics in an air conditioned room. So many press ups :(

Sunday Jul 19, 2015 #

Note

Accidentally slept through the trainable temperatures today - maybe see if I can do anything in the evening!

Saturday Jul 18, 2015 #

Note

I think it's time to give the garden a rest from tomatoes - it's blight central, and I can't really be bothered to do anything about it!

Rubbish walking 2:00:00 [1]

CT A to Z walk at Paugnut State Forest. We kept a decent pace and got bitten by a lot of mosquitos.

Thursday Jul 16, 2015 #

9 AM

Running 43:16 [2] 6.46 km (6:42 / km) +41m 6:30 / km
shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Easy jog towards work. Feeling a bit on the edge of a cold.

Wednesday Jul 15, 2015 #

7 PM

Running 21:41 intensity: (16:31 @3) + (5:10 @4) 4.02 km (5:23 / km) +32m 5:11 / km
shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

On the idea that something is better than nothing, I did something. I'm going to be fine as long as all controls are 50 seconds apart interspersed with 90 second timed road crossings.

Edit: AC at work is properly fixed now.

Tuesday Jul 14, 2015 #

Note

Everything is out of balance, time is just running away with me constantly. Hoping the trip home will force me to sort things out. Elite is going to be quite a stretch!

Monday Jul 13, 2015 #

Note

It is 32 degrees C in the lab right now and I feel like my entire week's training is already unlikely to happen! Eurgh! The AC has now been broken since Thursday.
7 PM

Running 21:14 [2] 3.22 km (6:36 / km) +29m 6:19 / km
shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

After spending almost two hours trying to give T Mobile lots of money over the next few years (with eventual success) so that I can use my phone in the UK, at least it had cooled down enough to go for a jog.

Sunday Jul 12, 2015 #

Note

Shattered! Spent all day in NYC in the heat yesterday, did some shopping, friend seeing, and music festivalling. Lots of walking and still have sore feet today, but great day. Hottest day yet outside today so not going to push it, back on the wagon tomorrow.

Wednesday Jul 8, 2015 #

Cycling 33:00 [1]

"Easy" into work. Today was one of those days where the sun cream slides off your face in a melted pool instantly. Let's hope a big storm comes to clear things up a bit!

Tuesday Jul 7, 2015 #

7 PM

Intervals 31:24 intensity: (23:54 @2) + (7:30 @4) 5.82 km (5:24 / km) +45m 5:12 / km
shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Almost wimped out of this session. Cray humid all day, and set off walking back to Science Hill after work and noticed there was a bit of a breeze. Tomorrow is due to be hotter and wetter, so I decided to go for it, and it felt great. 9 sets of 50(90). In the bag.

Monday Jul 6, 2015 #

6 PM

Recovery 43:02 intensity: (6:06 @0) + (5:27 @1) + (7:00 @2) + (24:29 @3) 5.48 km (7:51 / km) +61m 7:26 / km
ahr:145 max:174 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Very easy shuffle. Gave up with HRM halfway through. Glad it cooled down by the evening!

Sunday Jul 5, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Glad I found an open chemist yesterday - today things have swelled up and it's pretty sore. It's probably from the digging the doc had to doc to get out the fragment, but if it is worse tomorrow I have to go back. Don't think running will be happening today.

Saturday Jul 4, 2015 #

Note

How do I find/ is it possible to find an open pharmacy now? I got a piece of wood lodged in my leg during the run today and the doc says I need antibiotics!
10 AM

Running 25:01 intensity: (3:29 @0) + (1:05 @1) + (1:34 @2) + (16:57 @3) + (1:56 @4) 3.83 km (6:32 / km) +42m 6:12 / km
ahr:153 max:179 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Today's easy run, which I used as a warm up for the proper session I skipped on Thursday.

Tempo run 35:02 intensity: (13:14 @0) + (3:58 @1) + (3:39 @2) + (13:16 @3) + (55 @4) 5.77 km (6:04 / km) +70m 5:44 / km
ahr:131 max:177 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

5 x 3 mins tempo. This was tough and it was sweatier and muggier than I anticipated.

Joy, HRM obviously back to nonsense!

Cross Fit 14:46 intensity: (1 @0) + (52 @1) + (21 @2) + (9:33 @3) + (3:59 @4) 0.32 km (46:00 / km) +1m 45:18 / km
ahr:169 max:179

Short Freeletics which I thought would be easy but turned out to be super hard after all that. Jumps, lunges and burpee frogs.

Cross Fit 32:47 intensity: (9:52 @0) + (13 @1) + (35 @2) + (13:05 @3) + (9:02 @4) 2.69 km (12:10 / km) +1m 12:09 / km
ahr:151 max:184 shoes: Shiny red Sauconys

Apollon - 25 sprawls, 400m, 50 squats, 400m x 3. Ran easy, felt much better than I have done recently despite having just walked home in the heat and feeling a bit stiff.
