Hill Walking 2:00:00 [2] **

Nice easy walk with dad up to Allermuir, fair pace up the hills though!

Orienteering 1:50:00 [3] ****
shoes: Integrators

Another 60 mins or so hanging, some big hills this time! 20 minutes bashing down bracken with a control stake (don't knock it till you've tried it!), then 30 mins collecting.

Saturday Aug 26, 2006 #

Orienteering 2:00:00 [3]
shoes: Integrators

More hanging and a bit of collecting too. All good exercise!

Friday Aug 25, 2006 #

Orienteering 3:00:00 [3]
shoes: Integrators

Hung all of controls on Plodda - great exercise in strength, core stability and confidence in placing things in the right place. Jon M reckoned only one in the wrong place that he was funny about too, so very good. Eddie H impressed so some very happy customers!

Thursday Aug 24, 2006 #

Orienteering 2:00:00 [2]
shoes: Integrators

Hanging in Glen Affric - pretty slow as carrying stuff and sites not tagged so lots of triangulation needed!

Wednesday Aug 23, 2006 #

Orienteering 54:26 [4] ***** 6.8 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Integrators

First two thirds of course corridor exercise, last third windows. Excellent training, spiked it all aside from the one in the wrong place, running hard work though, calves sore from standing on toes at Radiohead the night before!

Tuesday Aug 22, 2006 #

Orienteering 57:00 [3] ***** 7.0 km (8:09 / km)
shoes: Integrators

Hung controls on Avielochan for 33 mins, pretty easy, all right. Then NOrwegian course on North Granish, concentration off on first control and totally screwed it, but after that perfect, confident, simplifying well, classic.

Monday Aug 21, 2006 #

Orienteering 1:18:00 [3] **** 8.0 km (9:45 / km)
ahr:167 max:181 shoes: Integrators

Hung star exercise, misplaced one slightly, oops! Then raced round Light Green course, 4,6km in 31 mins, finally hung a couple of long leg controls in the aft, nice and accurate but dead tired now.

Sunday Aug 20, 2006 #

Orienteering 1:26:00 [3] ***** 11.0 km (7:49 / km)
ahr:166 max:180 spiked:17/18c shoes: Integrators

Hung controls in the morning then did first half of course map memory, one biggish error. In afternoon hung a few more easier controls then did control pick contour only and was really good, great flow, accurate and confident - with only contours and no north lines! Awesome.

Saturday Aug 19, 2006 #

Orienteering 50:34 [5] ***** 6.8 km (7:26 / km)
ahr:187 max:199 spiked:15/19c shoes: Integrators

Blue course at Carse Wood. Not fast enough at all for the area, so suffering oxygen debt most of the way round! A couple of hesitations but no major errors, tough keeping pushing on the long track leg.

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] **** 7.7 km (9:44 / km)
ahr:167 max:190 spiked:8/9c shoes: Integrators

One 3.7 km straightforward course with one large error in vagueness, then did a line and mucked up again in the same patch - time to go home and get some soup!

Wednesday Aug 16, 2006 #

Hill Walking 3:50:00 [1]

Easy walk up Dreish and Mayar, nice leg stretch.

Tuesday Aug 15, 2006 #

Orienteering 52:15 [3] **** 5.4 km (9:41 / km)
ahr:178 max:192 spiked:17/19c shoes: Integrators

Two short courses on Creag a Choinnich - one little sprint quite high intensity then slowed down for an attack point course. Lovely little wood, a small amount of hesitation but lungs not feeling good on attempting some speed for the first time in a while!

Monday Aug 14, 2006 #

Cycling 2:22:00 [3]
ahr:137 max:177

Mostly off road cycle, some rough, mostly pretty quick. Hamstrings a bit sore.

Sunday Aug 13, 2006 #

Hill Walking 2:51:00 [1] **
ahr:108 max:159

Easy walk with mum up the hill behind Braemar. Lovely day, alves feeling surprisingly fresh.

Long run 1:30:00 [4] 15.0 km (6:00 / km)
ahr:174 max:198 shoes: Off Road Sauconys

90 minute run to the mast and back, 48 mins almost straight uphill, really tough long descent to follow on roads. Felt great uphill, beating dad on his bike! First decent longish run in months and months!

Thursday Aug 10, 2006 #

Hill Walking 5:30:00 [2] **
ahr:133 max:176 rhr:44

Hill walk with Dad, three Monros, calves aching a bit on ascents and legs a bit wobbly by the end, jogged down as easier! Really nasty weather, driving wind and rain. Meh!

Wednesday Aug 9, 2006 #

Cycling 1:15:00 [3]
ahr:135 max:178 shoes: Off Road Sauconys

Cycling with dad, a few decent ascents, bit harder work than yesterday.

Tuesday Aug 8, 2006 #

Cycling 1:06:00 [3]
ahr:110 max:163 shoes: Road Sauconys

Cycle with mum, 35 minute ascent and nice long flat/downhill section. Not overly strenuous.

Monday Aug 7, 2006 #

Orienteering 4:58:00 [2] ****
ahr:139 max:185 rhr:52 shoes: Integrators

Tagging controls in Glen Affric. Long day! First 90 mins or so were ran and the rest walked/jogged. Really tough day in hard terrain!

Sunday Aug 6, 2006 #

Hill Walking 3:13:00 [1] **
ahr:118 max:172

Walk to the Old Man of Storr and Sanctuary, then up the Storr. Not very strenuous but a lot of fun.

Saturday Aug 5, 2006 #

Note
rhr:49 (rest day)

Driving up to begin holiday up north in Scotland and slowly start building up to physical stuff again.

Thursday Aug 3, 2006 #

Cycling 1:03:00 [4]
slept:9.5 shoes: Off Road Sauconys

Bike ride round the usual short circuit at home. Was able to push hard up the hills and felt strong. Really tired (sleepy tired) afterwards but felt good whilst out there.

Running 51:34 [3] * 11.5 km (4:29 / km)
ahr:186 max:200 slept:8.5 shoes: Road Sauconys

Ran to East Craigs from George Square to meet new landlord. Knees really stiff and felt really out of breath at the start, by the end feeling better but tired.
