Into work and then out to Hammond Pond. Still too hot and sweaty and cycling up Beacon Street makes you lose all hope for humanity.

Not a very successful outing. Forgot the extension cable for my headlamp and had nothing good to carry it in, so had to stop every two minutes to fiddle with lamp. Eventually gave up and resorted to carrying in my hands, which is bizarrely a lot worse for trying to orienteer. Majorly fluffed number 4 but that was actually lucky, because Pia and I came across Mark who had blood leaving his hand quite rapidly and looked a bit pale. I walked him back to the cars, patched it up, and then we walked to Urgent Care. I was not sorry to give up, but Hammond Pond is great and should go back.

Green course at Hale. I was exhausted today after working stupid long hours to get the Editorial edits finished for the paper all week, then after a long day on Saturday when we rented a Tesla for a day for Rob's birthday. I set my watch to beep when my HR went over 180 and slowed down when that happened. I made at least two really silly mistakes, and it was too hot! It's late September, it's not supposed to be 30 degrees!
Despite not a very successful outing it still had some very enjoyable moments and I was glad to get out.
Aim is to get back to running a green at 10 mins per km, then move back up to running reds. Although today I realised I only have 3 months left as a W21, and I have squandered so many of them! That feels a bit sad.
Into work and bike on the mountain bike. Forgot bike lights and left work late (thanks Angus) so had to cycle like the clappers to get home before proper dark.
Too tired today and cycled into a wing mirror on the hybrid. Tried to fix it with Alan and we broke it more. It's taken a trip to my new favourite bike shop in Medford for a few days.

Went for a run around the viewpoint for the Flat Irons, then had lunch in Boulder. Altitude on the plains much easier to deal with after a few days even higher! I could happily live in Boulder.
Into the coffee shop then back from work. I didn't wake up on the cycle to work this morning, so had to get more coffee. Oops. Think an hour of orienteering took it out of me!

Final DumbellDominatin dumbbell workout. This was a reverse pyramid, so the reps got shorter, and the motivation was much higher! I still can't RDL properly on my right leg, I twist everything out of shape. Glad I did this! Easy run tomorrow and then the challenge is over.

I went to Pawtuckaway! A glorious morning. The woods seemed physically tougher, but I'm sure that's just my running fitness. I didn't really make any big mistakes today, other than being entirely incapable of finding the last control once I crossed the road again, but I was extremely unconfident, to the extent of things like stopping dead still for almost a minute on the way to number 9 despite the fact it turned out I was pretty much 100% on line! Still, my description holder suggests I haven't just run an orienteering course since last November in Gay City, so a lack of flow and confidence is not surprising. At the start I had a stiff bum from dumbbell domination, when I hit the felled area at the end I was definitely tired. Looking forward to orienteering more and getting a little fitter again for the woods!
Didn't want to drive anywhere today and still have a lot of work to do after leaving Yale. So did the third Dumbell Domination workout - only one more to go. This one was fine except for the burpees. Probably going to go to Pawtuckaway tomorrow to run a course. Was just a bit whacked today and lacking in motivation for the getting organised to go to Pawtuckaway bit. Would have enjoyed the actually being there bit.
DOMS! It has been a while. Those jumps yesterday destroyed me! Cycling into work and then along the river to Barb's with Alex. Friends!

One way Street O' from Barb's. This was fantastic fun! I epically messed up number 4 through a series of terrible ideas, but the rest was good. It was really really really fun.
Into the Harvard ID office, on to work, then home. Total sweatfest out there today. Hopefully the last one of the summer though! Everything crossed :D

My Strongest You Coach has started a ten day "Dumbbell Domination" challenge and it seemed like perfect timing to try to get me back into doing some actual strength work. This was super hard and I had to modify it a ton to get through, but satisfied that I made it.
Note
Rosie got five teeth removed at the vet today. The care instructions say we should brush her teeth daily. Right.
Feeling better and with glorious weather we decided to go for a "meandering bike ride through Arlington" and somehow ended up going out to Concorde and back. Energy and lungs were good, hip flexors were a bit tight by the end. Lovely day, fun cycle once we escaped the mental early section of the MinuteMan.
Made it out for walk around Ashland State Park in the rain. Super cool State Park, really lovely. Perfect Scottish weather. Generally feeling much better but energy levels dropped in the last twenty mins.
