Running 20:00 [3] 2.5 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: X Talon 212s

Ran down to Alewife to meet Rob - 400m on, 2 mins walk, 5 times. On isn't really on, and that's the best thing for me right now. Humidity has cleared quite a bit and it was almost pleasant this afternoon.

Alewife is totally gross to look at but as we walk, run, or bike towards it it feels very Scandinavian, with the bike routes that people actually use and the integrated T stop. I really like it more than I should. The only difference is that there's not enough buses. Boston seems to be caught in this horrible mess where the buses aren't frequent enough so too many people drive and then the traffic is bad so buses aren't that great why walk to a bus stop and wait when you can sit and go nowhere in your own car?

I should be moving here properly on 10th July. 90% confident of that! In the meantime, I'm going to go back to New Haven and stay there over the next weekend.

Running 22:43 [2] 3.09 km (7:21 / km) +3m 7:19 / km
shoes: X Talon 212s

Yesterday we accidentally drove up a hill in Maine instead of walking up it (thanks google), so I thought I had better do something today. Ran down to Whole Foods to maximise breakfast experience.

Running 17:33 [2] 2.88 km (6:06 / km) +32m 5:47 / km
shoes: Fancy blue sauconys

Running before work in Edgewood Park. Westville is spoiled for running options, but not for much else now Delaney's is well and truly dust.

HIIT 16:59 [2] 1.41 km (12:05 / km) +26m 11:03 / km

This Freeletics was mostly running, and thus a bit pointless. And then my watch died.

Running 18:45 [2] 2.39 km (7:50 / km) +122m 6:14 / km
shoes: Fancy blue sauconys

It was Midsummer so I had to run up a hill. Up to the top of West Rock, where I could see three separate super localised rain showers, and smell honeysuckle. It was pretty fab.

Strength 39:21 [1] 1.02 km (38:30 / km) +4m 37:46 / km

Freeletics below West Rock. No groundhogs this time, which was pretty disappointing all told.

Sunday Jun 18, 2017 #

Had an easy weekend. The antibiotics and steroids are finally shifting the stuff in my sinuses, but it's making me feel a bit whacked and sore throaty.

Friday Jun 16, 2017 #

6 AM

Running 17:53 [2] 2.39 km (7:28 / km) +85m 6:20 / km
shoes: Fancy blue sauconys

These walk runs are perfect for my current situation. Not in any way intimidating, so even if I'm tired they still feel possible. And wandering around in the woods is good for the soul.

5 PM

HIIT 13:33 [2] 2.1 km (6:28 / km) +5m 6:23 / km
shoes: Fancy blue sauconys

IRIS is a weird Freeletics work out. My running muscles are tired.

Strength 10:14 [2]

The strength part of yesterday's workout.

6 AM

Running 25:11 [2] 2.65 km (9:29 / km) +125m 7:41 / km
shoes: Fancy blue sauconys

I got to run on West Rock! Steph's house is just across the road. It smelt of honeysuckle and I was the first person out there, as I got totally covered in spider webs
7 AM

Strength 42:58 [0] 1.02 km (42:12 / km) +28m 37:06 / km

Double Freeletics to make up for missed session yesterday. Just finished as the sun came out - perfect timing. Disturbed many groundhogs. They're awesome.

(rest day)

On the train in the morning and air quality way too bad to exercise after work. So a rest!

Monday Jun 12, 2017 #

9 AM

Running 19:08 [2] 2.98 km (6:26 / km) +62m 5:49 / km

Scorchio! Uphill was bizarrely difficult. Legs are still a bit stiff. Think it's the split squats.

Strength 31:33 [1]

Strength session. It's been quite shoulder heavy but it feels like it's actually doing something.

Sunday Jun 11, 2017 #

9 AM

Running 25:17 [2] 3.09 km (8:10 / km) +7m 8:05 / km

The run walk bit of today. Couldn't face more car dealership woes, so had an explore of the neighbourhood instead.

Strength 27:43 [1]

The strength part of today. The pull up bars by Somerville path are not designed for female hands or shoulder width, as always. I did pass a playground on the way home that had a much better set up for future though!
11 AM

Stretching 10:30 [0] 0.04 km (4:22:30 / km)

Stretchy time when I got home.

Saturday Jun 10, 2017 #

I had another rest day today. Train was much better yesterday but my legs were sore. Did lots more moving in stuff, which is relatively hard work. Will be really glad when this is done!

Friday Jun 9, 2017 #

An intended rest day. Not feeling as tired as I expected.

Thursday Jun 8, 2017 #

Well, looks like it's time to write off Friday! I should go out for a run, this nervousness is too much!
7 PM

Running 25:17 [0] 3.02 km (8:22 / km) +16m 8:10 / km

Managed to take the reps easier this time, and it was a really relaxing election interlude. Very happy to chill out for an hour.

Strength 27:26 [0] 0.34 km (1:21:53 / km)

Strength in the park. Now permanently attached to the computer with wine, eating homemade ramen at 11pm. Tomorrow is going to be "great."

Wednesday Jun 7, 2017 #

7 PM

Strength 36:07 [2] 0.87 km (41:31 / km) +1m 41:17 / km

Strengthy time. Didn't think I'd do this today but felt better by the evening.

Tuesday Jun 6, 2017 #

6 PM

HIIT 14:42 [3] 2.42 km (6:04 / km)
shoes: Purple sauconys

I ran these short reps faster than I probably should have done and it was quite hard!

Strength 30:30 [1] 1.61 km (18:56 / km) +3m 18:45 / km

Workout in the playground. Getting pretty good at pull ups now!
7 PM

Strength 7:53 [0] 0.06 km (2:09:14 / km)

Stretchy time.

Freeletics 28:30 [3]

Freeletics inside on a miserable day. Spent the whole day unpacking boxes and moving furniture. Almost there. New Haven tomorrow!

Sunday Jun 4, 2017 #

Running 18:00 intensity: (8:00 @1) + (10:00 @3)

Walk/run down to Danehy. Was still very tired on waking today and thought this might wake me up, but it didn't really. Tried out a new "grass is lava" course for the juniors and it was somewhat successful but probably needs a little refining. I didn't expect both people to lose a life at the same time, which made for some decisions I hadn't prepared for!

Saturday Jun 3, 2017 #

My Amtrak was super delayed last night and so I finally made it to Somerville at about 11pm. I slept for most of Saturday, then had to get a couple of things sorted out, and that was pretty much the day.

Friday Jun 2, 2017 #

Tempo run 33:00 intensity: (28:00 @1) + (5:00 @4)

Freeletics beginners running work out. Some wind ups, lots of walking. Just moving is making me feel good. The wind ups felt quite hard on the CV system - I think I am still shaking the congestion that has plagued me all spring.

Freeletics 18:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (8:00 @3)

Freeletics has changed up their app and now you have separate bits for practising new skills and then doing Metcon style conditioning. The Metcon bit was really hard! Lots of plank variations.

Running 30:00 [2] 2.3 mi (13:03 / mi)

I'm still alive!

I currently have no GPS devices that really work, and I'm all over the place. We moved house this weekend, but I still work in New Haven, so now I'm back there. I stayed with Steph last night. My bag was heavy and my legs are still lead from moving things up and down stairs all weekend, but it was a glorious morning and Edgewood was beautiful. I just ran very slowly and enjoyed the air.

I have signed my MGH contract but they are still processing all the paperwork, including Visa transfer, so I still have no idea when I can start there.

I am feeling a tiny bit of hope for the UK election and I don't want to dare to feel it.

I am feeling nothing but despair about Trump and Paris. In the strange position of hoping the markets and the non- financial viability of things like coal power now save us.

It feels very strange that out of all the political figures out there right now, I most regularly find myself in agreement with the Pope. Everything is officially nuts.

(I obviously still disagree with a lot of the Pope. It's all relative)
