Pulled up at the Appalachian Trail and decided to explore the other side of the road to Pond Mountain. This wasn't the best section - up a very rocky bit, and then just as I thought it would crest the ridge - all the way down an even rockier path! So I didn't make it very far. Stabilisers not too happy and you can't move very fast at 80% max HR in this stuff, so it was very short. Beautiful cool, quiet morning though, and got to go to the new Arethusa bakery afterwards. It was rather lovely.

Tempo intervals around the roads at Millbrook. Needed a weekend away from the depressing apartment, and went to visit Carol-Ann. Had a lovely time. Yesterday I slept like I was dead, and then felt wiped pretty much all day. Had intentions of running somewhere fun, but then left it too late and had to use the roads around Millbrook. This place is like Long Island - every scrap of woodland covered in Private signs, with tons of empty looking mansions everywhere. In the restaurant later, I found out the a certain President Elect's brother lives there. They don't speak apparently, but he quietly supported the bid.
I bet his woods are covered in Private signs. Ugh.
Just a cycle to Hamden and back for Thanksgiving lunch, after a successful morning in the lab. And yoga. Today was a shorter session thank god, because most of yesterday was just me lying on the floor with DOMS.

I've done a bit of stuff since the election but nothing much.
I am feeling pretty lost. Rob's visa was finally approved this week, but Boston no longer seems like a long term option for us. His company has an office in Germany too, so it may be that once he is settled we will think about moving there in a year or so.
Last night I did some yoga with Adriene after chatting with M and H for while, (thanks for the suggestion Mhairi!) and surprised myself with this amazing stable V-sit out of nowhere, and decided that at least I could not lose all the hard work I've been putting in recently with my training.
Today I just ran round East Rock and got things done at home. Felt pretty stiff from all the pipetting at work all week.
I ran to work at 3.15 in the morning because I had a prep that had to be finished before lunchtime, and I wasn't sure I would get up in time once I finally got to sleep.
It's been there for a long time, but today was the first time I really noticed the "Never Give Up" sign in the window on the second floor.
I don't want to give up. But I think it's likely I will fight from home instead.
I met the Night Plumber at 3.25 this morning - turns out he has a little crew working on the plumber in our construction site. He was a lovely, considerate man who reflected my sadness. He slightly pulled my spirit off the floor. I finished my prep, ran home, and had stopped shaking enough to sleep by 4am.
Got 2 hours or so of sleep, then found out my parents' flight didn't leave Leeds Bradford, so have to make it till tomorrow before I get a hug. I'm very glad they'll be here soon.

Looked at my HR from yesterday and turns out I covered my 3 x 4 min threshold and my long run yesterday, so today was just 25 mins MIC. Felt good to get out after locking myself in with a research plan this morning!

Fantastic morning orienteering at Gay City, with excellent company on the way there are back. Things were going very well, running strong, navigating well, until I got foolish and went straight from 10-11, and lost 6 minutes! Fantastic being out today.
