Gip.is session. They love their short intervals. Ran the rests fast-ish too to make them more like Foxdals. 7 sets of 50 seconds on, 90 seconds off. It was warm and quite hard. Stiff from yesterday's strength too. Followed by the Nairn lab kosher picnic and a walk up Sleeping Giant. A very pleasant evening after a productive day of writing.

Ended up working the whole day in the lab today and still wanted to get the run in. Decided to start slow and just see if I could keep going to the plan, and I managed. Felt much better after twenty minutes and actually enjoyed it.
Was thinking about that study a couple of months ago about high performing men pretending to work 80 hours. 80 hours is insane. I did 53 this week and it's true that most of these 80 hours jobs aren't on their feet like mine. But it was totally exhausting on all levels.
This week I'm going to stay at home a bunch to write and it should be easier. I hope!
After a ton of washing it looks like my HRM actually worked today!
Even when I purposefully try to work less hard I fail. This week is turning into a long drag. I can see myself putting weight back on! Argh! Next week? It's always next week. Frustrating. Keep on cycling I guess.
Pre Scottish Six Day warm up training plan ideas - go! Not quite had the slow build I was wanting.

I went off first for Team Becky & Ed, and was mostly good, except a big hesitation and wander around at number 5. Bizarrely, AP thinks I lost no time here, but that is a lie.
Aside from that orienteering okay, but running fast was extremely tough - struggling to breathe in the humidity. Felt awful on finishing but recovered okay and figured it was just a shock going from a weekend of fun chill out in Brooklyn to sprint O in the heat.

Didn't run as fast in the second one but also didn't make much in the way of mistakes - a few small hesitations on exactly how to leave the track, but pretty much smooth. Didn't feel like I couldn't breathe this time, but didn't feel amazing either.
Really enjoyed the pleasant afternoon of chat and food afterwards - we should all hang out at Charlie's more often!

Ian jog (TM) after a really fun evening at the Yale Summer Cabaret. Excellent show. Jog suffered slightly from post ice cream-ness. No interesting animals to report.

Short run with 3 x 3 (1) mins tempo. HRM seemed to be behaving, then didn't go back down after rep 2. Soak it again tonight I think. This was hard, today was the first proper humid summer's day that I have trained in.

Had a lovely time in Maine. Apart from the driving days we were walking at an easy pace the whole time, and I slept for around 15 hours on one of the nights. Was awake without an alarm at 7.30 this morning, for the first time in a long time.

Ran towards work. Didn't feel amazing, but not as bad as HRM thinks it was! Think it must be broken :(

Short Freeletics workout. I got them to reset my fitness test so I can do shorter sessions, this was only 6 minutes tough activity with prep and stretching.
Got that horrible stuffed nose and weird taste at the back of my mouth now. Hopefully a few relaxing days in Maine is exactly what I need to get back on track.
