Note

Slob out day back at home. The garden was a jungle, but looks much better now I've tied back the tomato plant explosion and yanked the bolted plants. The leaf miners finally arrived - they got the columbine bait well but it didn't keep them away from the beetroot leaves, which are looking pretty sorry for themselves. Beets are starting to swell so hopefully won't set them back too much. No sign of Mr Squash borer yet but I'm sure he'll be on the way - I have two courgettes growing already though, so I'm ahead of last year! The pests seem to be a bit delayed given the slow start to spring and summer.

I met up with SGB! We went running in Redwood Regional Park, and I was pretty much unable to run up the hills. Nonetheless it was a beautiful spot and it was lovely to catch up!

Jog around a really cool paved loop trail in Mammoth town. Felt great at the start, beautiful views and good to get out of the car after a long trip across Death Valley. But then my body realised we were quite high and it struggled a lot by the end. I am bloated and need to eat some vegetables.

"Long" run from home after the Farmer's Market visit, which I hope becomes a regular Saturday thing. It turned into a progression run because I tried to get back to pace after slowly getting up the hills in East Rock. Tough at the end! Starting to get hot out there, finally.

Eddie, my scapes are here! We have one week to try and use them. Pea pods are also starting to appear, and I should finish up the radishes as they'll be bitter by the time we return. Because of the late winter the best stuff in our garden is going to happen while we're away, which is a bit annoying.

Cycled to work, which took slightly longer than it should have done as I got stuck on the wrong side of an enormous convoy of Harley riders, who parked up behind our building then drove off again 15 minutes later. We're talking hundreds of bikes here. I was not happy that they were elongating my time spend trying to do work on a Sunday.

Then drove to Stamford to buy summery clothes for trip, then took in the next state park, which was just down the road. Met a lovely ex pat Brit called Nina who had an adorable dog called Boris, then drove back to New Haven and went to see X Men.
