Cycling 44:37 [2]
ahr:129 max:170

Ride from Tarn Hows to High Cross and a little loop around a bit of Grizedale. Amazing views again, had to go so slowly up the hills to try and stay under 70% max HR. It was a bit embarrasing.

Orienteering 31:07 [2]
ahr:116 max:141

Walked around the first half of one of the control pick courses on Tarn Hows, taking some photos. Meant to do it all but it was harder work than I thought and I was getting tired. Will link to photos when they're up, probably tonight, it was amazing up there!

Orienteering 21:22 [1] ***
ahr:116 max:151 shoes: Saucony Cohesion

Walked round 3 controls I was hanging at Lakeside. Nice to still be able to read a map. I swear walking in terrain is harder than running without the momentum.

Cycling 36:26 [2]
ahr:125 max:158 shoes: Saucony Cohesion

Took the bike out for a quick spin around Holme Fell, mostly on road, but the ten minutes off road were the most fun I have had in ages. Amazing day with lots of temperature inversions.

Cycling 19:43 [2]
ahr:113 max:146

Cycling into work, HR back much more normal, felt much better.

Thursday Nov 27, 2008 #

Note

Had a rubbish day, HR still high and didn't make it out of bed till lunchtime, then couldn't face the lab. Slept a lot.

Cycling 21:56 [2]
ahr:121 max:157 rhr:52

Hmm...resting HR up again but I feel more like I'm catching the office cold then fatiguey again. We shall see - am a teeny bit bunged up anyway. Slept really well last night and woke pretty naturally at 7am. This is more like it!

Cycling 18:34 [2]
ahr:127 max:160

Wahey, cycling at last! Went to see the doc and he told me off for last night, but thinks the angryness + too little sleep is probably why my pulse is high today. I can cycle about town for the next two weeks, continue to swim and yoga, and then ease back into running from two weeks time. So I walked home in the sunshine and cycled into work, which was an absolute pleasure, if a little foreign!

Cycling 17:45 [3]
ahr:133 max:178

Cycle back from Stockbridge to home - mostly pegging it up hills like the Mound to try and get through the lights before they change, and mostly failing. The new system is totally rubbish.

Yoga 16:30 [1]
ahr:79 max:114

Run through the beginner's yoga starter session again - getting much better at this now! Then off for tea at Helen's - yum! Pulse seems to have returned towards normal during the day - think it's all about calming down!

Note
rhr:45

Have had a sore throat threatening since Fri, everyone at work has been coughing and spluttering like crazy things, so decided to take it easy this weekend. Slept really well Fri and Sat, not so much on Sun as Rob was fighting some kind of imaginary bruise on his head all night. Pulse is still back down at normal levels, sports doc tomorrow. Hoping I'm going to be able to do some running very soon!

Yoga 15:00 [1]
ahr:87 max:133

Beginners yoga session before bedtime. Angry at a couple of Rob's friends for being really rude and turning up to an 8pm meal at 10pm, and expecting us to take food off our plates for them. Needless to say they got none of mine! Then I got to bed far too late.

Swimming 20:43 [1]
ahr:111 max:120

Wow, my watch reckons that burnt an entire 85 kcal.

I am so, so, so bored now!

Yoga 1:05:20 [3]
ahr:77 max:111 slept:9.0

Wow. Today I had a special day. I completely imagined having lysed some cells last week, and came in to start an experiment on these lysates. Which don't exist. I even slept alright and was in the lab by 8.30, despite more bonkers dreams. Maybe I prepared the lysates in one of my crazy ass dreams. But because of this I have absolutely nothing to do today in the lab, which is more than a little retarded. Instead I watched the Horizon programme "How Mad Are You?" which is the best thing I've seen on TV in quite a substantially long time. I had the bipolar guy and had kind of guessed the depression, but I guess that's the power of editing. Then I did yoga, and amazed myself by actually already improving at a few of the moves we do each week. So that was kind of nice. Then I talked about the TV programme with Gareth for half an hour. And I have to go to a fire safety talk at 2.30, and the fire guy has promised that he has a new video, and we'll be spared the dramatic footage of the Bradford City Stadium fire of 1980 something for the third time in a row. Then I might go home.

It's my third year, and days like this should really not be happening.

Note

For some reason, most days now seem to be fine, except Tuesdays. Next week I should work Sunday and take Tuesday off. Tired.

Yoga 23:35 [1]
ahr:72 max:109

Beginner's yoga set before bedtime to try and help me to sleep better. Still had crazy crazy dreams but was at least waking up less between them.

Swimming 20:00 [1]

Ha ha! Today I endeavoured to try a length of slow front crawl, only to realise that breathing whilst doing so is a skill it's actually possible to lose. I nearly drowned, it was amazing. I had to do some back crawl to recover.

Running 7:00 [1]

Fully expecting an offensive by the Attack Point police, today I actually jogged for a few minutes whilst marshalling at Braids. It was rubbish to stand around and watch, especially in a freaking wind tunnel, but I am starting to feel almost normal again. In fact, I haven't thrown a mental fit all week, which is pretty impressive. Only 10 more days of resting for sure to go. It's amazing how quickly a month can disappear.

Swimming 20:00 [2]

Another 20 minutes in the pool. Would have been totally rubbish were it not for the rather lovely torsos on show. Thank you, swim team :)

Yoga 59:00 [1]
ahr:75 max:124

Another good yoga session, this time we did some energising convalescing moves especially for me, and it was nice. I especially like the ten minute nap at the end. I can't believe how inflexible I am though!

In other news, we were moving for most of the session but my pulse is low - I think things in that respect at least may be returning to normal.

Tuesday Nov 11, 2008 #

Note

Have been uber tired again for the last few days, so have done virtually nothing, a bit of walking, that's it. Couldn't wake up before 10.30 today.

BORED!

Doctor again on Thursday to to go over blood test results - I'm almost hoping for there to be something there just so I can do something positive other than rest.

Sunday Nov 9, 2008 #

Note

And after all that tough exertion over the last three days, and a lovely late nightout to see the Second Hand Marching Band with Helen and co, I deserve a rest ;)

Swimming 21:04 [1]

A few very sedate laps of the pool down at St Leonards. Nice to be doing exercise, not to be doing swimming, which is still, ten years on, dull as dishwater. Still, if it's all I can do, it's most definitely better than nothing.

Yoga 1:00:00 [1]

Today I did yoga for the first time in my life. And after initially getting a bit scared by all the namaste and energy stuff, it was actually pretty good fun. It's a small class at work run by Belinda, who is the most amazingly bendy person I have ever seen. We did some front bends and some balances, some breathing and finished off with a ten minute sleep which was the most relaxed I have felt in a very long time. I think I'll be going back!

Note

Took a couple of hours to saunter through Roslin Glen today and took some pictures of the amazing autumn colours. I miss being out in the wilds! This is the best time of year for it.
