Note

Only cycled one day last week - the roads were messy with ice and slush till the end of the week. Did a couple of bus/walk commutes, got a ride one day. Had one wonderful bus day where I got home in 50 mins, then the next day it took almost two hours thanks to ghosting buses.

Had a lazy weekend, with a nice hike on Saturday but a day full of boring admin in the rain on Sunday. So many important, annoying, and expensive things to do in the next few months :s

Working from home quite a lot next week to try to make actual progress on a paper - things are ramping up at work and I can't get anything meaningful done there at the moment. Everything coming in is fun, but need to be careful not to lose the science...

Note

Cycled three days this week and walked/bussed on Wednesday after the snow - the slush was protruding far enough into the road that I didn't fancy it that day. Had an amazing moment yesterday when I stepped off my porch onto a sheet of ice with a bike over my shoulder and just...balanced! Felt very chuffed with myself.

Have been slack on the yoga this week - been feeling tired. Work has been a bit chaotic. Should get back to doing it as soon as I get home.

Need to be in a coding cave today so working from home.

Note

Cycled every day except Thursday this week. Some really warm days and despite feeling tired a couple of days, the trip is getting easier. Definitely still the best way to do it.

Our apartment went on the market this week and we have a couple of people coming to view this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Note

Today marks the second death by motor vehicle on one of my regular Boston routes, this one just three blocks from my house. Two women were hit on a crosswalk by a pick up which didn't stop, one of them died at the scene in her friend's arms.

Note

Where would be a good place to go XC skiing for a weekend with decent snow and trails for beginners? We haven't put skis on in at least 4 years, so somewhere where people don't get mad if they find you in a heap at the bottom of a hill (Winding Trails CT - not good).

Finished 30 days of Yoga this week - it was good! Have had a short break but should get back on the wagon - it's definitely helping to keep the weight off while I am currently gym less. And can be quite hard!

I chose to try to cycle in on Wednesday and it was icy. I was doing fine, taking downhill corners slowly, but then some idiot decided to ram my bike from behind while I was standing completely stationary covered in red LEDs at a red light, two cars waiting in front of me too. I am totally fine, no damage, but I was shaken up. It was even slightly uphill at that point so I really don't think he was looking, and he didn't try to honk to tell me he wasn't going to stop in time either. He didn't even wind down his window to check I was okay, just gesticulated at me to get out of the way. I yelled.

I worked from home Thursday and walked in Friday. Will get back on the bike on Monday. Filed a police report for statistics on Thursday.

We looked at apartment complexes in Charlestown and found two good options on Friday - we just have to figure out if/when to try and break our lease. Otherwise we have to wait till July to move.
