Individual Training (APFT ) 30:00 [4]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Got my best score yet on the APFT, a 291. Started off with pushups, my weakest category. Got 66, needed 72 for the max. Next up was sit ups, got 77, needed 78 for the max. Realizing it couldn't supermax, I just maxed the run at 12:16, doing equal 6:08 splits. Got a 291 which is 7 points higher than my last. I want to max the next one.

Orienteering (Vetting for A meet) 50:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Day two of running the green course. Much better conditions. Maps were still black and white, however today it was clear and not cloudy. Rocks were still wet and still no bags on the points but the clarity made it much easier. Still hardships to find white pipes in New York but its Gucci. Good training, setting up a course.

Orienteering (Vetting for A Meet ) 45:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

The Team was out at the A meet day two location running the courses to make sure they are right. This is day one (it took us two days to run a green course). Got to point four. Very crappy conditions. The maps were in black and white, completely foggy, wet rocks, the points are even marked with bags just PVC pipes. Point is it was a rough day.

Individual Training race (West Point Half Marathon ) 1:36:40 [4] 13.1 mi (7:23 / mi)
shoes: Speed cross 3

Fabled West Point Half Marathon. Burned 1650 Calories and had a decent amount of climb (its West Point what do you expect). This was my first timed half marathon and I like it. Although these races seem to be somewhat expensive, I wouldn't mind doing two or three of these a year. I want to try a flatter course and get under 1:30. I didn't do any training for this one so I know I could do it faster next time. I felt pretty good during the whole thing, although at mile 10 I started to get a bad cramp for whatever reason and it lasted until about mile 12. After it went away some of these affects still lingered but I had so much adrenaline it didn't really matter. Good race overall.

Lifting (Arvin Lift ) 40:00 [3]

Did a little Arvin lift that I can say I am pretty sore from. Things ranged from lunges with weights, lateral Flies, Bench press, Rowers, Biceps, Abs. We did three minutes at each station then switched, Riley and I hit the abs and Rower station twice.

Orienteering (Checking Points ) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Just went out to check points with Jesson. The first point we found was in the correct place but the second was about 10m off. With the help of Ed we fixed it. Less snow today and less cold.

Orienteering (Setting Points ) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

The O team is getting ready for our brigade land navigation training where we'll bring all the guys who branched infantry and any others who want out to Camp Shea. I was assisting in planting two points into the ground. Not super hard. Still A LOT of snow on the ground.

Individual Training (Lusk Loops ) 32:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:20 / km)
shoes: Speed cross 3

Did some Abs and chest. Warm up to lusk (1KM?). Then did 6 lusk loops, each one Km. One was fast then the next at a more relaxed pace. Snow had not been cleared so we were constantly running through 8+ inches of snow. Overall some good speed work.

Individual Training (Craigstown run + Workout ) 50:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

The run to craigstown took 41:54 and was 5.4 miles. Ran with Luke and Matt. Felt really good considering I have not ran in 9 days. Afterwards I did about 10 minutes of abs and push ups to help me get ready for my Thursday APFT.

Putting another general log on here that covers multiple days. I have been in mexico and doing a lot of walking a tourist things, most likely 10 miles or more a day. Still haven't ran but still doing 200 push ups and 10 minutes of abs per day. Beautiful weather however and i'm getting a sick tan and enjoying myself.

Orienteering (Run ) 45:00 [3]

Orienteering (Arvin Workout ) 1:00:00 [3]

Arvin workout. Started with a lift with charlie. We did biceps, tri, back. Good workout and I am sore while typing this. Moved down to the 62 room where we did: 10 minutes bike, 10 minutes abs, 10 minutes bike, 5 minutes abs and 5 minutes pushups. Good workout for working something other than legs which i've been doing too much.

Orienteering (Run around the lake. ) 55:00 [4]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Solid run with Justin, Matt, and Sam. We ran these trails for almost an hour and covered a lot of ground and saw some awesome stuff. Seriously the sights are what I live for. Awesome view and awesome trails with some friends. What a time to be alive in such a nice area.

Orienteering (Run through forest ) 50:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Foolish me did not charge my watch and I forgot the time/ distance Jake Walters told me. I was a good recovery run however with some nice trails and distance. Ran to the top of this high mountain but we were inside of the clouds and couldn't see anything.

Orienteering race (Red - 6.8Km) 1:48:03 [5] 60.8 km (1:47 / km)
shoes: Speed cross 3

Better day of red although much more technical than the previous day. Only slightly lost at 3,4,8 and 9. Felt better today although the thorns still kicked my ass. I desperately need attack pants. For West Point guys this weekend I think I did 18/25. Need to keep working much harder however as I was told I will not be going to the JNT tryouts. My goal is WUOC.

Orienteering race (Red - 7.5 KM) 2:02:48 [5] 7.5 km (16:22 / km)
shoes: Speed cross 3

Honestly a brutal course, so many thornes. Got a tad lost at points 3,5, and 6 but otherwise than that it went fine. It was my first red so although the time was slow I know I will improve. Besides those three points, other reasons I was slow include the mass amount of thorns, and my stomach was killing me the second half of the race.

Orienteering (Time Trail ) 15:17 [4] 2.24 mi (6:49 / mi)
shoes: Speed cross 3

2 and a quarter mile time trial. Grant Turnaround to Buffalo soldier field, then went up to Michie and the down to the Beat Navy house. Then went to Mac and across diagonal walk to Ike. Good little run and I passed up John and Jesson at the end. Burned 284 Cals. Had some climb in there but don't know how much (75M?)

Not included in time but did about 10 mins of abs, which is nice saying I need to keep this pack for spring break ;)

Individual Training (Boxing ) 15:00 [2]

Did some drills just to keep the heart rate up and sweat a little bit, nothing too serious. Last fight on Monday.
4 PM

Orienteering (Harriman Course ) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Speed cross 3

Did a course through Harriman. It was probably middle distance, with a level at a green. I had no trouble finding points but was still feeling a little bit down from my stomach ailment so I took it a tad slow. I took advantage however of the slow speed and looked more at my map, finding alternative routes which helped cut out unnecessary distance.
