this was a test to see whether i could run this arvo at orienteering. im feeling pretty good so i think i can.

I cant wait to get back into this training but i feel as if im starting from scratch (even though ive only been out for 2 weeks). its annoying me

run warm up/down 8:00 [1]

orienteering 20:19 [3] 3.1 km (6:33 / km)

ok the first 4 controls were go, i went pretty hard out like normal race pace but as soon as i got to no. 4 my head started aching again and my nose was running. after that i was pretty much just jogging :( head hurt a little bit after but coke fixed it. pretty bad time in the end but i was expecting that.

run intervals 16:00 [3]
(sick)

well i have figured out that wednesday morning would be an awesome time to do 1,2,3,3,2,1. however i knew i couldnt do this today due to sick factors. so i did 1min and then 1min stopped and went home hahaha go me.

im thinking that intervals in the morning on wed and in the arvo on thur would give me enough recovery time.

Strength and conditioning 12:00 [1]

orienteering 42:00 [3] 5.5 km (7:38 / km)
(sick)

the sickness got the better of me today and i could only do 3 of these but they were fun!
It was a control feature exercise where most of the features ont he map around the actual control were marked with streamers and si. so you had to be really sure coming into the control ciricle what your feature was so you didnt mp.

orienteering 30:00 [1]
(sick)

too sick to run. walked around with krystal cause my head was killing me.
relocation exercise but mainly we just gossiped about boys ;)

Also did anyone read the weekly bulletin today where they asked the mini cyclones to get their shit together ;)

Weekly bulletin:
"Also existing members of the Mini Cyclones (12-14 year olds) are encouraged to be at
Bunyaville on Friday morning as we are taking photos of squad members to go
with an article for the Australian Orienteer. There will be two sprint courses
set up so you can have a run. Remember to have your Mini Cyclones shit.
Also application forms for this year can be returned on the day if you
haven't yet sent it in."

run (terrain) 29:19 [3]

ran around anzac park this afternoon and took a trentino map with me. I like the course on this one because of the detail in the control circle and the need for simplification on the legs.

overall felt a bit flat at the end but the beginning felt good.

orienteering (Naseby) 42:00 [3]

sigh Naseby

this is waht i wrote after the naseby incident:
"WHY?
what to do differently...look around and identify feautres. Where am i now? Where am i going?
Plan contorl circle slowly and slow down if you havnt identified the features. JUST DONT WING IT"

i think i was angry and sore

orienteering 44:30 [3]

Oceania Middle
From O-diary:

Why did i make the mistakes i did?

Mistake 1 no.4
Past all the rock and knew that the control was at the end of the cliff. Knew it was a mound howevere my attackpoint (end of cliff) wasnt good enough. neeede two for this control. I didint plan this control enough. Should have followed cliff line till a small cliff above - 2mins

Mistake 2 No.5
Thicket should have been attack point!!! this control is a warning control! REDLIGHT! but i didnt see it. SO SLOW DOWN AND PLAN! -30sec

Mistake 3 no.8
I felt as if this cotnrol should ahve been more in the centre of the gully so when i got to the centre i stopped. I was too high and since i couldbnt see it i continued to climb. so next time the map is read differently..(or wrong) do not climb higher, find a clear AP -1min.

Mistake 4 no.17
Misread the cliff on the wrong side of the spur. What i learnt :on a cotnrol with lots of detail maybe walk 4 paces, read map clearly..back to basics?? -10sec

MISTAKE 5. No18
ran off from 17 with no clear AP or route choice. Found boulders, knew they were my 1st set but the map to me didint add up. therfore I came back to the 1st rocks ran around a bit found out i was too low. SO i hit the edge of the cotnrol cirlce but i didnt trust myself (or didnt know where i was ..sigh) and i didnt identify the features -4mins

Mistake 6. No.19
Same as 176, shouldhave clear AP and not rusghed off soo stupidl;y trying to chase down angela. I should have slowed down and found the edge of the rocks (north) and come in as ai knew the control was on the northern end and northern side. - 1.30sec

S O in general thoughts to ponder: Where on the leg should i plan the next leg. ??? After i have a clear and confidednt route and plan for the leg i am on?

orienteering 1:18:00 [3] 5.4 km (14:27 / km)

oceania long:
so from here on all that iam writing was what i have previously written in my O-diary.
- didnt understand or fully get into map until 5
- control 2, 8 mins lost because of misunderstanding of VEG
Looking at map now, not too hard and can see how to do it in under an hour.

orienteering (vic sprint champs) 16:00 [5] 2.5 km (6:24 / km)

had goals about route choice and exit route today..also with full concentration during legs. worked really well and managed to have a really good course despite control 8 where i got sidetracked by the out of bounds... lost about 20seconds maybe...
anyway it was good fun!
