Note
(rest day)

A long way off my mileage target this week, mostly because of bailing on long run last Sunday and not running on Monday. Absolutely no point chasing it at the expense of an injury.

6 PM

Running (out of date) warm up/down 5:33 [1] 1.4 km (3:58 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

My watch doesn't work on the track... WUP

Running (out of date) intervals 29:00 [4] 5.9 km (4:55 / km)

Bit of an easier session today. 1000,400,800,300,400,200 with huge recoveries. Lower leg felt a little dodgy towards the end, probably just first time wearing spikes on the pretty hard track at wilby.

That's also 3 sessions in a week, which is a bit silly, so a rest day tomorrow so I can go to Balmoral with something in the tank hopefully
7 PM

Running (out of date) warm up/down 2:43 [1] 0.6 km (4:32 / km)
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

CD

Running (out of date) 1:08:23 [3] 15.7 km (4:21 / km) +20m 4:20 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Cabbage Byron's with Paul, who doesn't look like Paul any more.

Easier than yesterday, and feeling generally a little better with a slightly cooler day (but equally cool clothing choices). Bit of concern with general low leg/shin dullness but I'll just take it easy. Back in time to watch the mixed sprint relay at EOC and do a bit of stretch and roll because who needs revision...

3 PM

Running (out of date) 52:41 [3] 11.9 km (4:26 / km) +20m 4:23 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Grantchester in 3/4s cos laundry schedule is a bit dodgy. Got brutally dropped by Aidan and Ollie, so just hanging on for most of it. Slowly getting back to fitness, with emphasis on the slowly

3 PM

Running (out of date) intervals 40:53 [5] 6.8 km (6:01 / km)

8x(400[90']200[2'']) at Downing fields.

Grotty stuff in the heat, but held out much better than at the weekend (water probably helped). Also switched it up from bolds to xc spikes mostly for the psychological boost, but think it might have had a real impact too - felt a lot faster being forced onto toe-striking for the sprints.

Still not fit enough to stay with the guys I was with in intervals sessions in Michaelmas, but feels like progress and nice to actually complete some training after an unfinished weekend

Running (out of date) warm up/down 8:02 [1] 1.4 km (5:44 / km)

Slightly rushed WUP

Note
(rest day)

Another rest day. Ramping up the mileage but doing so slowly - an exam-term injury is not appealing

Sunday May 6, 2018 #

10 AM

Running (out of date) long 39:39 [3] 8.4 km (4:43 / km) +30m 4:38 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000 6 (heavies)

Long run didn't go well. Started off a bit fast and was hurting hard in the heat. Dropped back to a slower group but it was still too much, and the wheels came off very very quickly just after crossing the ringroad - took about 500m to get from too-warm-for-the-vest to oh-no-my-legs-are-jelly. Walked back from there for a while before being getting back to jogging a bit.

Feels pretty bad to drop out of a long run like that, will make up for it though.
