Running (out of date) 20:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Gel-Exalt 5 (heavies)

Back to Cambridge today

Meant to get a jog in but got persuaded to play a bit of frisbee. Pretty tenuous to call it training but it was definitely enough to mean a jog on top would be too much. Knees niggly so rest day tomorrow. Keep the recovery easy.

Keeping the come back steady

5 more, still no pain, still no pace. Little mooch around Astley Ainslie

Swimming intervals 1:30:00 [4]

Back on the cross-training nonsense. Something like 2,4,6,4,2,4,6,4,2 50m lengths but skipped a few and drowned a couple of times so not really sure. I am very much not a swimmer.

Running (out of date) 10:00 [2] 2.0 km (5:00 / km)
shoes: Asics Gel-Exalt 5 (heavies)

5mins more every second day with cross-training in-between is the plan. Day 2 and the plan is broken. Still feel beyond rusty but good to be out.

The slowest of comebacks. Don't wanna try this too early, but feel I've been respecting injuries too much recently and barely training, so willing to give it a try. No pain but only 5 minutes so not sure that's all that impressive.

Swimming 40:00 [3]

The only thing worse than swimming in a pool is not swimming in a pool. My understanding was that lanes were put in so that everyone would go in straight lines, but yeah, go ahead if you wanna just cut diagonals and then half-sink in front of me.

Cycling 2:00:00 [3]

Out to Tranent via Dalkeith with mum.

Got a puncture at the furthest point of the ride which was annoying. I like cycling but bikes are such a liability, I much prefer running where you can't be forced to stop by just breaking stu... oh

Swimming 1:00:00 [2]

Pool session: 10x250,5x25. Bearing in mind I can't really swim this was a decent session, certainly gave me a chlorinated headache and maybe even some training benefit too.

Is there any worse punishment for stupid injuries than having to do sessions in a pool?

Cycling 1:12:00 [3]

Musselburgh out and back trying to get home faster than going out. Caught myself jogging up steps to cross the railway, which was stupid but pain free. Taking that as a sign of progress but certainly won't be running on it properly for a week or two yet.

Cycling 2:05:00 [3]

Out to Gladhouse Reservoir via Roslin and back by Carrington and Dalkeith. Fast roads and lovely weather. Got going for long enough to have a pretty bonky roll back into Edinburgh which felt bad in a good way.

Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Enough of that.

I'm not going to be fit for oringen, which is sad, but its 10 weeks to British Sprint/Middle and 19 to Varsity, so there's plenty time to recover properly from this and then get some decent training done.

Toe is now good enough for the bike, so spin to Roslin-Shawfair-ohnowherearethecyclepaths-home. Nice enough.

Note
(injured)

Tried to start properly training again, immediately stress fractured 3 metatarsals (...I think, x-ray to come, but the ouchiness is pretty severe). See you in 6 weeks AP.
