Skate Ski 58:54 [3] 7.4 mi (7:58 / mi)
ahr:148 max:179

Eldora Ski-O, long. Didn't have any snap for sure, just skied it for the most part, only had to stop and study the map in any detail twice, other than that, no issues. No warmup.

Skate Ski 37:56 [4] 5.77 mi (6:34 / mi)
ahr:170 max:182

Pole Mt. Shuffle at the Jack. Course was: start at the grooming building, meadow, upper UW, up to Summit but didn't do Summit, Haunted Forest, Gobi, lower UW, Black Jack, finish at the building. Temps was about 20F maybe with about an inch or so of fresh snow on fairly soft grooming. Used the soft flex madshus, which only come out in such conditions, they were smooth and nice. Given I've done no intensity, and I didn't know how hard I could push the heel, I just wanted to put in a hard effort. It was a thin field, one guy went out in front off the line and no-one stuck to me. But I started to reel him in a bit on upper UW, but then he stretched the lead, but then before Moose Hill, I caught up and passed like nothing. Never saw him again really, even with a stumble on the turn to Haunted Forest. It was a good, measured effort. It certainly hurt, the HRM dropped out a few times, but the good data showed HR's in the 170s. Never even thought about the heel.

Skate Ski 43:00 [1] 4.49 mi (9:35 / mi)
ahr:121

Cooldown, chatted with LS and Chambo.

Skate Ski 59:00 [1] 6.21 mi (9:30 / mi)
ahr:136 max:165

Bonus skiing. Skied the course again with Swampfox. I still think that if we raced the big hill on Summit, he'd might beat me.

Note

Oh, I've been forgetting to mention that I will be doing a fair amount of secret orienteering in the Laramie Range as soon as the snow goes. So likely starting in mid-June the way this winter has been shaping up thus far, right before the races at the end of the month and into the first week of July...

Skate Ski 2:05:00 [1] 15.89 mi (7:52 / mi)
ahr:142

Drove up to the Jack to meet up with Swampfox for a ski. Conditions were excellent, except for the two snow snakes that attacked Swampfox. I've heard a diet high in pizza often can attract snow snakes. Ran into LS as well. The elevation was really hard on me and the ski felt fairly difficult, I think Swampfox could beat me in a race right now. My HRM was acting goofy, so I don't know if the average is accurate. Heel felt quite good today, maybe I've turned a corner. I even did a couple short runs (20' or so) just to see if there was pain, and none really to speak of. After the ski, it was a bit worse, but that is to be expected, the real test if there's pain in the morning.
