As Frisco, stayed off any trails, just did main drag dirt road and around the campground etc (as to not be accused of scoping out controls). Learn how to force shift the back derailleur because it is worn out (no hope for front, stuck in the middle ring - thankfully the best one to be in for everything).

Night-O Frisco. Had concerns about my ankle, but I gave it two days rest beforehand. It actually performed quite well. Didn't have any sort of top end speed, but could jog quite well and it was stable across rough ground. But still played it safe in general. Had two huge mistakes which angers me as I can't seem to put together a clean run to save my life. Control 5 was the same as 8. From 5, went to 7 instead of 6, never for a second before getting to 7 did I think I was headed the wrong direction. I think it was because on the map it was written as 5/8, and I somehow thought that the left fork was going to 6 (which makes no sense, I know). After punching 7 and realizing my mistake, start the long trek to 6, which gave me problems. The leg when over a barren wasteland of freshly logged area which gave little in the way of features at night, head lamp could not illuminate far enough in any direction. Got in the wrong re-enterant, knew it was wrong, cut across to the right one, but must have been below the control just enough not to see it (none of the night controls had reflective tape), went to the bottom, at the bottom, went to a third re-enterant, went up, could tell this was wrong, cut back to the right one and immediately found the control. Still can't figure out how I missed it when I cut over to it the first time. All went smooth after that. Estimate 15 minutes lost on the mistakes.
