NI British Champs Counter
Shortened route due to Storm Hannah and inability to stand upright on the tops.
Legs didn't quite feel fully recovered from previous weekend even though i hadn't done much during week. Felt ok on run out through the forest and even quite good for a short while on the climb up the glen where I took the lead for a bit to try and stretch out a gap and make things harder for the fast descenders. James followed and went past a short while later. Started to tire a bit as the wind was gusting and making it difficult to keep rythym and balance over the granite boulders. Rob Jebb came past as the gradient ramped up towards the col and eventually caught James. I managed to hold on not too far behind until the top. As soon as the descending started, i knew i was going to be slow. Mark L came past before the Col and went on to catch Rob and James fairly quickly. Upper legs, hips and lower back all felt a bit stiff / weak and was struggling to find a flow. Not helped by the wind catching from behind and almost bowling me over as my legs couldn't turn over fast enough. As Josh came past, i resigned to making sure i got down in one piece. Matt and Gareth came past on the flatter section of track through the forest and i didn't have the energy or will to chase after them. Managed to accelerate a bit over the field to the finish to hold off Robert S who was chasing down fast. Reasonably satisfied with result as i'm not targetting the British Champs. Perhaps could have descended a minute quicker on fresher legs but would never have matched the quickest descenders over that course.

Short pre-breakfast loop before driving to Ardfern to meet up with sailors ahead of SIPR. Stunning views towards Ben Lui whilst running up the valley. Feeling a bit tired but legs ok and thankfully no niggles after the last 3 big days.
