BLFO A-meet Middle at Hunters Creek. This should have been my best race of the weekend - fresh legs, short distance, and somewhat technical. Although I felt I had a decent run, it turned out to be my worst result. Again I had problems at #1, heading toward the same control as a Green runner that had started at the same time as I did. I knew better, but went up and looked at the control box anyway. My control was 90m south on a distinct tree, the symbol for which kind of melted into a stream bend on the map. I guess I could have looked at my clues. Things went well until #9, where I aimed off a bit too far and wound up hitting the trail along the creek too early. (I did see control #10 on my descent to the creek) . Then to #14 where I misjudged the green slash, and missed the more direct route trails inside the green slash. This was probably my biggest mistake of the race and cost me at least 90 seconds. Other than that it was just dealing with the hills....

I finished 10th overall on RedX.

Orienteering 15:16 [5] *** 2.5 km (6:06 / km)

BFLO A-meet - Sprint. After the race I thought I had a great result - but in hindsight it was pretty average. No real issues with the navigation. I spiked probably the two hardest controls (#3 and #4), but did have a bit of a bobble at #12 - going all the way around the building before finding the control. I was caught on the downhill by Emily Kemp? and thought I could stay with her by taking the straight line to #15 and cutting the strip of white woods. I think it made up a few seconds, but even that was not enough. Throwing my map may have helped, but I didn't want to steal Mike's technique while he was announcing the finish.

Webster Park - ROC Red - Club Series #2. I am getting rather lazy in logging - partially becuase I don;t have much to fill in between O-meets. Hopefully that will change with class finishing up. Finished this behind Mike and Pavel who both had nice runs. My biggest error was at #8, where the control was located in the thin parcel running off to the west. Somehow, I took a due west line out of #7 and wound up off the map. Unfortunately, this area is outside the park boundary (OB?) - so I had a hard time relocating. Other than that it was mainly physical limitations with minor bobbles at #21? and #19.
