Orienteering 28:05 [4] 3.59 km (7:50 / km) +99m 6:53 / km
shoes: Black Inov8 X-Talons

Moravian Christmas Cracker - Cluny Hill
Tem score event, 3 people to get as many as you can in 30mins, you get the points, if more than one person get the same control. Started on the ones we'd agreed I would get around the back, but then had extra time so got all the ones in the park too. Therefore ended up only missing 4 in total. Felt a lot better doing this than I have been recently which is nice!

My team won - me, Lindsey and Scott

Gym 1:00:00 [1]

Aoife's session. Back sore

Thursday Dec 14, 2017 #

Note

Went to the Physio regarding my back this morning. Basically I have no movement in the lower (lumbar) region of my spine (i.e. the vertebrae are moving as one instead of individually). He's given me some exercises to try to stretch this out while strengthening the muscles around it in order to give it support.
Need to cut back on heavy impact activities for the time being (i.e. sprints etc), and stick to pool/bike/easy runs

Running 1:00:02 [3]
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 17

UCD Athletics
Easy session due to being in the middle of exams.
WU, Drills, 8x3mins[1min], WD, Stretches
Calves and right Achilles very tight. felt slow, but not surprising. WD wasn't very existent... was cold and I didn't want to be there
probably good that I'm going to visit the Physio on Thursday

Cycling 2:00:00 [2]

Hired fatbikes from Aviemore with Dad
Aviemore - Loch an Eilein - Loch Morlich - Aviemore
Awesome on these bikes!!! 4.8inch tires

Orienteering 59:11 [3]
shoes: Black Inov8 X-Talons

Northern Night Cup - Mullochard Wood
Genuinely don't think I've been doing enough orienteering lately to be able to manage a night-o like this. Went into it with the aim of keeping focused and getting the control circle right, but in order to nail the control circle, you've got to get yourself to the control circle..... this was my problem....new exactly my plan and what I was expecting to see on each leg, just couldn't find any of it... therefore pretty much just did it at a jog as even this was too fast for my nav. Skipped 10-15 too just being wary of time regarding getting a lift home

Running 1:10:00 [5]
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 17

UCD Athletics..... in Culbin.... with Dad and Jane...
(i.e. just took the session Emmett posted, and did it ourselves)
15 min WU
as much of drills and strides as I could remember
8 min progression tempo [2mins]
2x90secs[90secs]
4x60secs[60secs]
4x30secs[30secs]
4x15secs[15secs]
15min WD
Tough session, but good to get out and do it. Back sore, mainly on the faster stuff, but felt it stopped me pushing to the 100%, and also felt not very in the rhythm of running, but thats probably to be expected. Other than that a good session

Gym 50:00 [1]

Dan's Spartan class. Good to be back, however did hurt my back (something which has been present for a while, but flared up again recently - going to see a physio when I'm back in Dublin)

Sunday Dec 3, 2017 #

Running 37:00 [3]
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 17

In Darnaway from Conicaval with Dad. So so missed this forest - such beautiful trails, especially next to the river. Definitely wearing the wrong shoes though...

Orienteering 56:26 [3]
shoes: Black Inov8 X-Talons

INVOC Event - Culloden
First orienteering event in ages which was definitely obvious. Been so long that there was dust on my box, and mould on my SI card....
Unsurprisingly didn't really have the fitness to last this whole race, so was pretty unmotivated round the far end when I was getting tired and running was difficult. Navigation wasn't great either. No big mistakes as such, just lazy technique that I'd usually get away with wasn't as good as it usually is seeing as it hasn't been used for so long. Meant many smaller time-losses at most controls. Thought the map was pretty dodgy in some places too. Paths around no.4 for example
