Orienteering 14:32 [4] 2.45 km (5:56 / km)
shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

JEC Spectator Sprint
Really focused on going off at a decent pace, as the last few sprints I've done I went off way to fast and died half way round. This plan landed itself Welles the first few controls were in the woods anyway.
The scale threw me a little at the start, but I soon got my head around it. No real mistakes at all, just some hesitations or not being able to see the control (behind a tree etc). Think I got the route choice nailed on the long leg though.
Felt pretty good anyway

JIRCs Relay
A lot better.
In SOA 4 with EilidhS, Rachael then me - dream team ;)
Storming runs by the girls set me off in second right behind Lindsay(SOA2) and just ahead of Pippa(YHOA) and a few other north west teams. Pippa immediately flew passed had and left me for dead and took the deserved win by 6mins.
This left me and Lindsay together at no.6 with LauraH about 50m behind. I was feeling good and navigating well. Started to pull away a little getting back into the technical bit coming into the end with 4 controls to go. Slight faff on no.12 but found it quickly. Looked up, saw my sand dune for 13 and ran. Unfortunatly the sand dune I wanted was about 45o left of this one (it was a surprising similar sanddune.....) - a mistake I've made here before. Quickly realised and corrected it but soon found Lindsay, Laura and LauraK(YHOA) had overtaken and running together. Caught them again but different gaffles on 13 meant they got away leaving me to come in 5th. Gutted.
I knew things didn't match probably at 12 but in the rush of he moment just ignored it which was pretty stupid.
Positive side was once again my Achilles showed no pain at all, and I was feeling really strong running. Really enjoyed the course.

Amazing runs by the rest of Scotland over the weekend meant we came away with the win over North West (2nd) and Yorkshire(3rd)

JIRCs Individual
Actually got to the stage that I didn't enjoy this race very much.
Picked up the map and had about a 1.5km leg, followed by another 1km one. This was ok, nice, relatively straight route to one, keeping save and getting a feel for things. Nailed it. Debated lots about my route to 2 - high and safe, or low and through the terrain (still shouldn't have been too technical) got to the path mid way where I had to make my decision and decided to go low as I was already quite far down the hill. Although I think I was further down than I had anticipated. After some very bad contouring found myself looking at the road (waaaay further right than my route had planned) and couldn't get the direction of it to fit to where I thought I could be. Decided just to eyeball it (out of bounds to run along) and eventually found the path (after further than I thought) and got the control ok from there. This route took me through some pretty rough/physical stuff already so wasn't exactly excited for an uphill leg through knee deep heather to a small Boulder on a vaige hillside.... Needless to say I lost rather a lot of time on this, bad compass from my "attackpoint"(if you can call it this- there wasn't much to go off) resulted in me faffing around not really knowing what was happening. Eventually found it and Fred by which point I was about 60mins with little motivation or energy left. Ran with Fred for the next few having a chat which lifted my spirits a bit. Last ones back were technically fine, but crawled round them with little motivation or energy.
Overall pretty bad. Thing probably a bit overplaned for a JIRCs as some people were taking 3+ hours on their courses, but I still could have done this massively better.
On a positive - Achilles were absolutely fine - no pain at all

Running 41:16 [2] 6.08 km (6:47 / km) +133m 6:07 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Easy 2 laps of the xc course with a Finnish orienteer. Aimed for 30-40mins so this was good. Started really slow, and picked up the pace the second half of the second lap. Felt good, no Achilles pain

Running 33:06 [5] 4.51 km (7:20 / km) +94m 6:39 / km
ahr:157 shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

First session back at Harriers so agreed to only do ~1/2.
Warm up lap of the field and to the bottom of Hunnysuckle.
Hells hole intervals (only 3 instead of the usual 6) paired with Lily (one rests while other runs), not that hilly so shouldn't put too much strain on the Achilles.
2:30 (oh God, maybe I've started too fast) (180)
2:27 (can't let Anna leave me for dead) (184)
2:26 (last one) (186)
Felt good!!!!
Extended cool down with Lily, Achilles started hurting a little at this point. Stretches at the hut while waiting for everyone else

Note

Walk up Stob Coire Raneach (Buachaille Etive Beage) cheering on and handing over refreshments to Finlay, Andrew (Barrington), Iain and Adrian as they were coming down. Then ran back down from the top, being cheered by supporters thinking I was part of the race....

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Not sure on how far. In culbin, really muddy and wet since its been raining all day. Good fun!

Tuesday Sep 6, 2016 #

Cycling 44:32 [3] 15.82 km (2:49 / km)

Out along the track and down into Clodymoss, then along the most southerly track through culbin, past Wellhill and out at the mouth of the Findhorn. Back via Lochy's old house, broom of Moy, and through Forres to meet mum finishing harriers.
Lovely evening and awesome to be out! Some of the tracks pretty rough/rocky which slowed me a bit, even on my full-sus bike. Foot a bit sore so decided no S6 beach walk for me tomorrow :(

Note

DofE qualifier all weekend in the Cairngorms.
Came away with a bit of damage to my Achillies....
Pretty bruised, pretty swollen

Feels like someone is slicing it with a knife. :( Just cycling this week, hopefully be able to run by the Wolf at the weekend.
