Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.44 km (6:57 / km)

Up - From Findhorn out to the dunes

Running 30:00 [5] 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Absolutely brutal session on the Findhorn dunes with Harriers. Pairs exercise again where one runs while the other rests so I was paired with Lily. Running a tad faster than her so got a tiny bit more rest :)))
Basically just a loop going over some of the big dunes in the soft sand.... Soooooo tough

Pretty pleased with navigation and seemed to be taking good route choices. Quite hesitant near the beginning but this smoothed out as I got my head into it. Not moving very fast at all, so tried to limit looking at the map.
Caught in a pretty heavy rain/thunder storm

Note
(rest day)

Sports day - 200m and 4x300m relay

Thursday Jun 23, 2016 #

Running 1:00:21 [2] 9.7 km (6:13 / km)

Easy run home from Dunearn burn through Darnaway with mum. Beginning was along the track at the top of the cliffs, then came back via the castle and down the drive. A bit stop-starty at the beginning and legs seized up at the end.

Running 37:54 [4] 6.62 km (5:44 / km)
ahr:176 max:187 shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Roseisle Run
Felt pretty horrendous: really tired/sore legs from yesturday and felt pretty sick. Really struggling to breath at one bit on the way back which was a bit scary

Tuesday Jun 21, 2016 #

Running warm up/down 7:30 [1] 1.23 km (6:06 / km)
shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm-up, round the field then into the woods to Honeysuckle

Running 30:00 [5] 3.22 km (9:19 / km)
ahr:159 max:184

HoneySuckle Intervals. Bored of doug's sessions, so a group of us went into to the woods to do this. In pairs, one recovers while the other does the loop.
Got a bit carried away on the first rep (especially the first hill) so this came back to bite me for the rest of the session (evidently looking at the times...)
2.26 (180) - Whoops
2:33 (182)
2:38 (184)
2:41 (183)
2:43 (183)
2:43 (183)
Heart rate pretty consistent throughout, just completely died on times and feeling sick. First time doing this loop in ageees so no surprises I went off to fast

Running warm up/down 10:10 [1] 1.23 km (8:16 / km)
shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm-up back to the hut

Orienteering race 49:36 [4] 5.24 km (9:28 / km) +210m 7:53 / km
(injured) shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Jamie Stevenson Trophie
Wasn't actually meant to be going to thissingle long story short I wasn't on the start lists (I did have a start time) and there wasn't a clock at the start so I almost missed it again, so I almost ran through the start boxes. Insta caught Eilidh Campbell at no.1, but probably got a bit distracted by her so subsequently lost about 6 mins there. Next few were ok, just really slow going as the heather was horrid. Long leg was physically tough although nailed the navigation on the open hill side which is a good sign. Finlay caught me and Eilidh here and so for the next one we were all too far right, about 1min.
Foot a bit sore, but not too bad
Pretty bad result, but good to know without no.1 I would have been up there. Not gonna be selected for JIRCS either now as none of us can run up anymore, but I'll be able to get to the Edinburgh Uni Open day instead :))

Friday Jun 17, 2016 #

Note

Started on my DofE but it's been torrential rain up there for the past 3 days so all the fords were uncrossable so we had to turn back after half way, and the whole exped got cancelled - late entry into JST though

Thursday Jun 16, 2016 #

Running 24:29 [2] 4.4 km (5:34 / km)
ahr:158 shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

Easy run around the Brodie Loop. Foot not too bad, but definitely noticeable. Pretty minging weather

Tuesday Jun 14, 2016 #

Running 48:57 [3] 8.0 km (6:07 / km)
ahr:160 shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm up around the field and lap of the course.
Horrendous session once again by Doug... Just a lap on the grass, 80% of which is effort and 20% is recovery. Not surprisingly feeling heavy legged and slow
Cool down around the field and a wild goose chase to find Andrew

Note
(injured)

Tendinitis in my L foot. Had a problem with this a few years ago but it's flared up again. Niggling last week after the Cairngorms, sore after my races at the weekend, then been sore at school all this week. Taking it a bit easier this week, and no hilly stuff. Ibuprofen gel is a lifesaver

Orienteering race 57:16 [5] 5.61 km (10:12 / km) +135m 9:07 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Panic in the start boxes as I'd forgotten my number so had to sprint back to get it, pin it on, and tape my laces, so head started off a bit frantic. Sorted it by the time I left the start line though.
First 3 were good, clean and steady getting in to it. Caught Laura by 3, and witnessed her intimate encounter with a tree at 4... Coming out of 4 was a bit odd, the paths didn't match up, so I bounced off the bigger one to the north then the control circle was really messy. I'd left Laura by here and my head was a bit all over the place, but eventually made things fit and got it. 6 and 7 were both a mess. Tbh Emma led me in to both of them. Each time I left in a hurry then make a mess of the circle, and she would come along and spike it. Accidentally planned to go to 9 next (before 8) and didn't realise when I got there (I was looking at the control code for 8), so a bit more time lost - nailed 9 both times I went there though ;) saw Laura going to 9 as I was going to 8 - Damn she'd caught me again!! Spurred me on to not let her get away. 10 and 11 were both executed well, just once again the control circles let me down loosing more time in both. Meg caught me here which really spurred me on again. She really kept me going but she lfpeft me going to 12. Caught her again at 13 - think I maybe took a better route (?), athough she left me again on the next few. 14, 15 and 16 were all ok. Bailed out to 17 along the path. Didn't really think there was anything to go off going straight and didn't want to loose it all at this stage - also the path gave me a good attackpoint. 18 was such a mess - another big time loss. Meg caught me again - don't really know what happened (thought she was ahead...?!) and we along with Tim, Mikey and Paul(?) had all messed it up, so did a big loop round to the path next to 19 to relocate, then up the indistinct path and got it. Fine on the last few just back in. Finished before Laura so again not really sure what happened there. Maybe 9/10mins lost but really pleased with the result - 3rd in British Middle 2016!!!

Orienteering race 20:07 [4] 3.37 km (5:58 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Sprint Qualifier
wet off pretty fast. Clean round the first bit, not many hesitations, but just not at a sustainable pace. Coming back past the start I really started to suffer. Error coming out of no. when I went out on the wrong path. So subsequently ran 2 sides of a triangle. Really snailling after this, not really enjoying it as I was feeling so bad, and lost enthusiasm as so many people were over taking me.
Scraped through to the B final so got chance to put it write.
3 PM

Orienteering 16:35 [4] 2.84 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Sprint Final
Started a lot slower, nice and comfortable and nailing the navigation in the tricky bit for the first half. Pausing slightly when necessary. The last part of the course was just a run back home so started picking up the pace a bit. Decent result

Gym 30:00 [2]

Mollie's first session she's run on her own so I said I'd go along for support.
Pound - cardio session using with weighted drum sticks. Really good fun and showed my lack of coordination. Definitely got my heart rate up though

Thursday Jun 9, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

Out with Elizabeth deciding on tour tops after school, then a DofE kit check so no time for anything. Small run tomorrow before British Sprint/Middle at the weekend.

Running race 32:39 [5] 6.33 km (5:09 / km) +100m 4:47 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Quarrelwood run.
Pretty enjoyable course. All up hills were followe by down or the finish which gave me something to look forward to.
With Lily until the end of the big track but pulled away on the single track stuff and never saw her again. Kept ahead of July until the end of the first lap. Going into the second lap my legs were shot and felt horrendous until the end of the track but it picked up a bit again on the single track bit.
A lot better than the last few.

Running warm up/down 9:33 [1] 1.32 km (7:14 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Cool down round to the last bit of the course relieving the marshellers with Kirsty. Have a blister under the arch of my L foot

Tuesday Jun 7, 2016 #

Running 41:02 [5] 6.86 km (5:59 / km)
ahr:165 max:181 shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm-up lap of the park, then a lap of the course.
Harriers intervals. Weird one I haven't done before but basically race pace for about 300m, recovery ~50m, sprint 80ish meters, then recover ~50m, and this was continued for 30mins. Kept up with Kirsty and was feeling pretty good.
Cool down back to the shed and stretching on the grass

Gym 50:00 [1]

Legs and shoulders pretty sore from yesterday, and generally feeling pretty sick. I'm obviously allergic to going back to school....

Sunday Jun 5, 2016 #

Cycling 2:00:00 [3] 24.0 km (5:00 / km) +300m 4:42 / km

Absolute slog of a bike ride from Coylumbridge up to Loch Einich which wasn't helped by the fact I was on Andrew's mountain bike which is too big for me.
Amazing decent back down again afterwards though, showing mum and dad how to do downhill mountain biking. Stunning weather both ways

Climbing 4:00:00 [2] 15.0 km (16:00 / km) +1000m 12:00 / km
shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

From Loch Einich over to Monadh Mor. Walking the ups and running the gental up, fat and down. Amazing weather 90% of the way, topped off by the taste of Scottish river water and meeting the herd of Reindeer right near the end.

Note
(rest day)

Had some DofE nav training as apparently my navigational skills aren't quite up to the standard of following a few paths through a wood...

Orienteering 37:15 [4] 4.23 km (8:48 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Training in Darnaway with Clare. I planned the 3 exercises but we only had time for numbers 2 and 3.
No.2 - Idea for Lizzie's AP - One person does 2 controls as an effort while the other jogs straight to the second control, then swap.
No.3 - Head to head race but with a couple of controls slightly different. I got a bit ahead after some sneaky route choices so waited for Clare at the far end to keep it interesting.
No.1 was meant to be a relocation exercise but it will have to be saved for another day.
Really good fun and great to do it with Clare. Got soaking as it had been raining all day.
#clareisaledge

Cycling warm up/down 19:27 [1] 6.0 km (3:15 / km)

Cycle back home giving Clare a lesson on how to ride a bike, and a guided tour of Darnaway castle grounds

Thursday Jun 2, 2016 #

Running 39:17 [3] 7.23 km (5:26 / km)
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

Harriers Broom of Moy loop, running with Clare at a easy pace. Decided to run home from Moy as its pretty much the same distance so went through Major MacLeod's land and down the Burnie Path. Pretty drizzly weather and a bit of a wait at the level-crossing for a train powered by Hamsters.

Wednesday Jun 1, 2016 #

Cycling 1:25:46 [3] 31.0 km (2:46 / km) +400m 2:36 / km

Into Forres at the beginning to Grandma to help with a couple of tasks. But went a bit of a longer way home... Out on the Grantown road to Logie and down to Relugas, then up the hill to Darnaway and back through Conicavel.
By myself as Clare has to go back to Dunblane for the day. Really hot and beautiful weather so it was pretty enjoyable
