Orienteering race 1:15:38 [4] 8.48 km (8:55 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

This whole course was pretty much just a bonk. Didn't have any energy - unhelped by being caught by Pippa, Fifi and Emma and not being able to stick with any of them.
Navigation wasn't too bad:
No.2 pretty hesitant in the control circle
No.3 didn't really have a plan leaving the control so just started going on a bearing hesitantly, but then realised I could see the hill next to the control so put my map away
No.7 got to the uncrossable fence almost exactly in between the crossing points.
No. 12 pit bingo... I didn't win
Apart from that just extremely slow over the ground.

Travelling to BOC

Thursday Apr 28, 2016 #

Cycling 58:18 [2] 23.0 km (2:32 / km)

Out to Forres, then up St. Leanords road to Rafford, back down to the Grantown road and home through Mundole with Mum. Bit of a strong headwind on the way out but it blew us back. Took ages for my legs to warm up and get into it

Orienteering 44:09 [3] 4.52 km (9:46 / km) +225m 7:49 / km
shoes: Blue/orange Inov8 X-talons 212

Invoc Craig Phadraig Event
Started well... as far as no.1... which was along the track and on a track junction....
no.2 was a bit too high but quickly relocated when I hit the path. no.6 came off the hill 90 degrees in the wrong direction due to some rather confusing tracks. Relocated fine but then also overshot the control at the end. no.8 didn't drop down far enough from after the path so was quite off. no.12 was speeding along the path (which was a pretty cool path and I was a bit too overexcited to be running it) came off it slightly too early but completely overshot the control. no.14 got rather confused with the scale and found exactly the bigger version of the white triangle (in the same place but not marked) with a matching boulder just to confuse me, so was looking around for a while until I realised it was perched on a miniature version of the triangle on a moss covered lump.
Started behind mum and Alan H, but caught Alan at least 4 times, and Mum twice. Running pretty well anyway

Running 15:00 [1] 2.0 km (7:30 / km) +100m 6:00 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

WU/WD up from the carpark and back down from the finish.

Orienteering 30:00 [5] 3.5 km (8:34 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

BASOC Training in Church Wood - Grantown
Freeeezing and snowing and map had no paths
Did it as a chase with Dan C where I gave him 30 secs then chased him down. Feet went numb pretty much on the way to no.3 and couldn't feel below my knees at about no.12.
Pretty smooth through to no.10 but no.11 i saw Daniel and got rather confused with the lack of tags on the depression so in my quick looking thought it was a hill. Subsequently went to no.14 instead which was in pretty much the same position but on the hill behind. Therefore miss-punched. Whoops. Although no punch units so shhhhh ;)
No.12 I was too far left due to not coming from where I thought I was, then no.13 was too high along the ridge.
Got a little confused on no.19 due to the lack of paths on my map but not very significant.
Cant Daniel properly at no.20 but took a bad route to the finish so he got a bit ahead - although not quite 30 secs ;)

Gym 50:00 [1]

Dan's sessions now - more aerobic and speed based than usual.
Great session. Knee killing from when I walked into that metal bar on Saturday night....

Running 13:20 [1] 2.5 km (5:20 / km) +17m 5:09 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm up along the tracks to the secret path. First km apparently at 4.44min/km - definitely wasn't going this fast...

Running 24:52 [5] 2.0 km (12:26 / km) +100m 9:57 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

8x~150m hill intervals up the secret path hill.
Started at the dip in the bottom, then roughly 1/3 of it up the really steep path then the last 2/3 it gradually gets less steep. Quite a few fallen trees to jump over and a patch of roots on steroids which I may or may not have tripped over at least once.....
50secs(173)

51(176)
50(179)
50(183)

Pretty consistent.

Running 15:04 [1] 2.39 km (6:18 / km) +10m 6:10 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm down back home. Went through the fields. Maybe wasn't my best idea

Running 52:00 [3] 9.11 km (5:42 / km) +100m 5:25 / km
ahr:171 max:181 shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

Nice run in Darnaway with mum.
Parked at Tearie then ran up past Sarah's and straight into the woods ahead. Ran along the track to the top of the bank then right up the river keeping at the top of the back all the way to the open area and the stone piles. Straight ahead into the beach wood bit then to the castle and back to Tearie along the drive. Another beaut evening. Legs feeling a bit tired. Avg HR a bit high...

Cycling 55:30 [2] 21.47 km (2:35 / km) +142m 2:30 / km
ahr:136 max:157

Cycle with mum out the back way to Iain's then to Auldearn, up to the stones, down to Tearie and back home. Beaut evening. Slight headwind on the way out

Running warm up/down 7:32 [1] 1.32 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm up round the park then round the outside of the cricket pitch

Running 30:12 [5] 5.61 km (5:23 / km) +110m 4:54 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Harriers fartlek training. All efforts between 30secs-2mins
Legs pretty nackered and right root absolutely killing - realize this is partially due to a thorn still haunting me from the weekend embedded in my achilles

Running warm up/down 7:28 [1] 1.28 km (5:50 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Warm-down round the park again

Gym 50:00 [1]

Good to be back.
Normal kind of session although felt tougher as I haven't been for ages
Definitely took my anger out on the slam ball...

Orienteering race 47:03 [4] 4.28 km (11:00 / km) +200m 8:55 / km
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

This was horrendous. Hated the terrain... Brambles... AHHHH!!!!!
Felt like I just couldn't get the speed up in as it was so mingling which I think is why I ended up quite far down.
Nav was pretty good, #4 I was a bit low, then #5 was a little high. #6 I was in the right place just didn't really expect it so ran past. Non of these lost more than about 10 seconds, and just hesitant on a few others.

Orienteering race 15:44 [4] 2.25 km (7:00 / km) +70m 6:03 / km
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

This wasn't too bad, although didn't really like the course - quite a lot of plain running with only a few controls of intricate navigation. Apparent from no.1 where I went right (but everyone did so I pretty much didn't loose time) I didn't really make any mistakes, just some hesitations and went right on #8, where I think left was better. Couldn't push fully as is was so wet underfoot and hills didn't seem to slow me as much as usual. Just still quite a bit slower than the others.

Cycling warm up/down 15:22 [1] 3.37 km (4:34 / km)

Cycle from home to the finish of the course

Orienteering 46:43 [4] 5.3 km (8:49 / km)
shoes: Yellow Inov8 X-talons 212

Jog from the bikes to the beginning of the course.
Ran my W14 6-Days 2013 course with Kirsty. Did it as intervals - racing head to head on each leg, then stopping and resting at the control. Worked pretty well and got me thinking under speed and fatigue. Navigation was really good - surprising seeing as I haven't picked up a map since the JK and my map was blurry (dodgy photocopying).

Cycling warm up/down 16:48 [1] 3.37 km (4:59 / km)

Cycle back home. The 'secret path' was in pretty bad condition with loads of trees and ditches. Managed to fall in the smelliest river you could possibly find. Maybe need to go build a few bridges and clear some trees after exams.

Running 22:29 [2] 4.07 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

Stretch the legs around the Brodie Loop. Got pretty bored of the normal route so mixed it up a bit, inc. a stop in the Castle's pretty cool new play park...

Feeling nackered after skiing and not having run for a week. Stuck with Lily and Lauren for the first 4 and a a half, ran myself for 6 and 7, then pretty much ran with them again for 8. Forgot HRM

Running warm up/down 5:14 [1] 0.51 km (10:16 / km)

Small Lap of the park warm down

Friday Apr 8, 2016 #

Note

Teacher isn't letting us out for runs any more as "it isn't on the risk assessment"...... Pretty nackered from some amazing skiing anyway

Tuesday Apr 5, 2016 #

Running 30:00 [5] 4.0 km (7:30 / km)
ahr:166 shoes: Gel Asics Cumulus 16

Warm up to the park in the village we are staying in. Not much time as dinner was soon.
10 mins of intervals across the park (33secs) [30secs] and 1 up the steep hill at the end. Not sure of any data as I have no way of uploading my Garmin.
Legs were really dead after all the skiing and I'm really tired and I'm going to claim it was high altitude... (2000m ish I think)
Warm down jog back to the hotel.

Note
(rest day)

Plan was to go to a 'Forres Harriers fundraiser event' -
"We will be doing a handicap race around the cross country course but you must wear wellies"
Turns out, I'm the only person gullible enough to believe this - (APRIL FOOLS....... We don't even normally have "normal training" on a Friday) - so I was standing there for 10 minutes before I realised, after which I retreated back to the car in a sulk hoping not to have been seen...... So today has turned into a rest day.
