Running warm up/down 17:22 [3] 2.93 km (5:56 / km) +26m 5:41 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

Warm up, ran West for about 1km and back again then up to the start and a couple of short harder efforts. Feeling good by the end.

Orienteering race 31:08 [5] 4.9 km (6:21 / km) +135m 5:35 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

WA middle champs at Calophylla.
Feeling a bit nervous but ready to go and went to punch the start but no beep. Someone else tried, same thing. Noel then came in and tried and it worked for him. I tried again, still nothing. Noel had a new flashing stick so we thought maybe that was why his worked. There was a call to delay the start for 15 minutes while they found a new start brick but then someone else came in (enter on the day I think) and punched with the same card type as me. I then realised something else must be wrong and had a look at the check station we punched when collecting control descriptions and found it was programmed as control number 102 instead of check. Took that out of the sequence, cleared and checked again and everything worked fine. Start clock was reset to 9:27 and we began again except this time not feeling anywhere near as ready to race.

First leg was short and control looked easy on paper but the creek junction below the control didn't look quite how I expected so I was just a little hesitant. Next few were easy but all uphill and I felt awful after the delay at the start. Had a bit of downhill after 4 and felt better after that. No problems at all navigationally, always felt in control and as good as I could expect physically. I enjoyed the run and finished just under 5 minutes ahead of tRicky. Hard to know how I would have gone against stronger opposition but I was pretty happy with my own performance.

Running warm up/down 7:05 [2] 1.08 km (6:33 / km) +13m 6:11 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Oroc 280

Little warm down jog down to Ridley Rd and back. Tripped over a 10cm high log which I had seen, just didn't realise I was dragging my feet quite that much.

Running 1:04:11 [2] 11.74 km (5:28 / km) +114m 5:13 / km
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V5

Easy run around KP just trying to run as easily as possible for at least an hour. Felt quite good but a bit tired for the second half.

Swim 21:37 [3] 1.0 km (21:37 / km)

Just tried to swim as fast as I could which is not very fast but at least heading in the right direction. Garmin must have got one of the lap splits wrong with a 48/1:28 split in there somewhere.

Running 51:54 [3] 10.19 km (5:06 / km) +90m 4:53 / km
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V5

Struggled to get out of bed and out the door after a late night playing tennis. Felt tired in a whole body fatigue, not enough sleep kind of way but the legs were actually not too bad and I got moving pretty well by the end despite still feeling tired.

Running 31:48 [2] 5.78 km (5:30 / km) +64m 5:13 / km
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V5

Easy run in KP. Almost decided not to go this morning but once I got over my laziness I didn't feel too bad. Didn't want to do too much with another tennis final tonight.

Tennis 2:30:00 [1]

Pennants grand final away against Cottesloe. I felt as though I played better than Monday but could never quite string enough good shots together to win a game. Lost all 4 sets 2-6, 3-6 with Dean, 1-6 with Ian and 0-6 with Liam. Went down 2-6 overall with Ian and Liam winning one of their two sets and Ian and Dean winning the final set. They were just too consistent for us tonight.

Running 1:04:53 [2] 10.94 km (5:56 / km) +103m 5:40 / km
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V5

Easy sand tracks run with Helen, Priscilla and Dean. Found out that the driver of the crashed car we saw yesterday was Rockin Rod, the leader of the Friday morning running group that we sometimes ran with at Cottesloe. Sounds as though it was a heart attack that caused him to veer off into the tree. He was still alive when we saw him being loaded into the ambulance but died in hospital later that day. My doubles partner in the club champs was his son in law and he had also lost his father earlier in the year.
Also heard Daniel started chemo for his lymphoma on Friday.
I felt quite good but that seems kind of insignificant somehow.

Tennis 2:00:00 intensity: (1:30:00 @1) + (30:00 @2)

Semi final away against Blue Gum Park. I was keen to play because I had played poorly when we lost to them a couple of weeks ago and I had been playing better on Wednesdays so I wanted a chance to redeem myself. We did get up 4-2 this time and I did win my singles 6-4 but I wasn't any happier with how I played. Didn't feel I had any control over my groundstrokes all night. Now hoping I can return to form on Wednesday for the grand final against Cottesloe.
