Warm up lap around the outside of the ECU Joondalup campus with Oscar, Henry, Tomas and Rachel.

Orienteering 26:41 intensity: (10:00 @2) + (16:41 @3) 3.98 km (6:42 / km) +13m 6:36 / km

Relocation exercise with Rachel. Tried to make it harder for Rachel by taking roundabout routes to disorient her but kept going past the tape she had to find along the way.

Mass start sprint course with a couple of butterfly loops. With Henry and Tomas and ahead of Oscar to the first but went the wrong side of the wall at the first pivot control and was mostly on my own after that. Made a couple more silly little mistakes and then had Oscar pass me at the second butterfly and finish his second loop as I finished my first. Briefly considered skipping the second loop and racing to the finish but he was already dropping me and now had Henry just ahead to chase so I decided it would be pointless and I might as well finish.
Not reading ahead very well on this course, too much running in the general direction and reacting to obstacles as I reached them rather than planning ahead and executing the plan. Quite pleased with how I felt physically, much better than I expected after last night's race.

Another session this time with Ben and Gunesh. Mostly American singles rotating every game with singles player serving then half an hour of singles with the winner staying on.

Metro Series Coogee. Planned to head South out of the start but on a quick glance at the map it looked sensible to get 7 and 8 first. I was a bit surprised to be leading up the hill to 7 but Tomas soon fixed that passing me just before the control. I was quite glad when he turned left towards 4 as I turned right towards 8 because I didn't really want to watch him running off into the distance. Had a lot of trouble deciding what to do around the South of the map so went to 5 just to delay a decision and then decided to skip 14 when I realised I had already run past the road leading to it. Went 18, 21, 20 but the hills were steeper than I expected so may have been better to go 18, 20, 21.
I did in and outs to 23, 26 and 25 which seemed like a good idea at the time but probably would have been better to go around the East side of the lake instead. The climb up to 11 was a bit of a shock and I walked a few steps there but was generally pretty happy with how I felt running. I had checked my pace somewhere around the South and it was just over 5min/km so given the hills at the end I was pretty pleased and a little suprised to see it was just under 5min/km at the finish.
Finished second about 5 minutes behind Tomas.

Sprint relay at ECU Mt Lawley. Teamed with Oscar, Henry and Cameron running first leg with me, Rachel and tRicky running second. Oscar and Henry came in together so Rachel and I started together. We were very late getting there due to traffic so had done no warm up and I was really struggling to stay with Rachel to the first couple of controls. Rachel was doing the shorter course so we split after the second control and I definitely dropped the intensity and just tried to recover on the next leg. Got going faster again after a bit of recovery but came in well behind Rachel.

Second leg of the sprint relay. Bullied Rachel into doing the longer course this time and Oscar came in close enough to Henry that I thought I had some chance of catching her. Right glute was tight from the start of this course but I think I was moving faster having warmed up a bit on the first course.
Saw Rachel up ahead on the way to 4, was closer at 5 and got past her going the opposite way to 6. Had a bit of hesitation on the way to 7 having trouble reading what was passable so I had to push hard to the finish to make sure I stayed in front.

Another short sprint course after the relay using many of the same controls plus a new section over in the student village.
Really tired from the start of this one and the right glute was feeling worse as well. Must have worked pretty hard to get past Rachel in the relay. Just wanted to stop on the way over to 3 and struggled with the complexity through the village but I guess that allowed me to recover a bit and I felt a little better for the rest of the course. Rachel did the shorter course again this time and appeared in front of me coming into 8 to make me work harder into the finish again.
About 2 minutes behind Henry and Oscar.

Did a bit of a warm down loop around the campus collecting a couple of tapes along the way. Found the girl who had earlier been looking for building 15 and helped her to work out that she had found the right building, just one day too early.
