Running 35:28 [2] 6.11 km (5:48 / km) +68m 5:30 / km
shoes: Nike Free 5.0

Easy run in KP. Went up the broadwalk because I couldn't face running up the sand today. Legs tired but not sore, foot a little sore but no worse than normal.

Orienteering race 36:10 [5] 7.39 km (4:54 / km) +124m 4:31 / km
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V5

Metro Series Sorrento. Thought I would try to just take it easy today but when someone puts a map in my hand and says go I can't seem to control the urge to race. Set out to the South because it seemed the simplest way to start and gave me time to think about other options. Went to 15 first and was on my own right from the start. Not sure what Chip was doing at the start as he came out of the next street East of 15 as I ran past towards 20. I got all the controls down the East edge of the map and then across the South edge while planning how to get home. Even at 25 in the SW I wasn't really settled on my plan but decided it was good enough and just committed to getting it done. Got a lot more hilly in the second half which I found pretty tough. I even allowed myself to walk the last few steps into a couple of controls but was fairly happy with how I held the pace throughout the course.
Saw Tomas at 18 and then was a little surprised to see him again between 6 and 7 because I didn't have very much to go and he was sort of heading away from the finish. Going up the single track to my second last control at 1 I could hear someone coming up behind me and sure enough it was Tomas again. I knew I had no chance in a sprint finish so just hoped he had an extra control to get but no such luck so I came in 4 seconds behind. Ricky beat us both but was just under a minute ahead of me so I'm very happy with that result. I think my route must have been pretty good.

Short loop in KP. A real struggle to get going after limited sleep last night. Another runner (John) went past me before Saw Ave so I tried to use him to get me going and lifted the pace a bit to stay with him. Guessed he was a Rosalie runner when he crossed the road so had a bit of a chat. I think I might have made him go a little harder than he really wanted to.

Easy run in KP. Foot has mostly been really good since Saturday's run, definitely better than before that run, but was a little sore on this run. Achilles had been a bit sore getting up this morning but was fine while running.
