Running 1:09:28 [3] 15.19 km (4:34 / km) +120m 4:24 / km
shoes: Puma Faas 300 Black

Ran from home to the marathon club for the kids marathon. Little loop near the Mends St jetty to chat to Steve who was looking very comfortable at that stage running 4min/km. Probably ran a little harder than I intended to with all the marathon runners going the other way and sat on about 4:15/km out to the clubrooms. Calves were getting a bit tight so I tried to back off for an extra 3k warm down loop to the Windan bridge and back but still let the pace creep back up a bit near the end.

Perfect conditions for a marathon which Roberto Busi took advantage of to run a big PB of 2:24 something for the win. Steve was looking good to 25k but his quads tightened up and started cramping so he hobbled home well outside 3 hours.

Kids marathon with Amy. A bit of a struggle with Amy's sore knee and cold. She said she had stitches everywhere.

Running warm up/down 14:58 [3] 3.01 km (4:59 / km) +34m 4:43 / km

Warm up run around Shenton bushland. Felt reasonably good.

Orienteering race 16:40 [4] 3.43 km (4:52 / km) +25m 4:41 / km
shoes: Puma Faas 300

Nav Dash Shenton College. Found it pretty hard to read the first few legs and spent way too long dithering at 1 unable to decide which way to go to 2. Getting into it a bit better by 5 where I found myself on Lee Holliday's tail. Lee was running the short after having run the long and the next 6 controls were the same as the long so he was understandable confident and running about the same speed as me so I couldn't get past him before we split at 11.

I think it was Luke B that I saw leaving 11 towards 12 as Lee and I approached and he looked to be moving pretty fast (faster than me anyway). Closed the gap to Luke on 14 and chased him into 15 and 16. I lost a bit of ground across the oval towards 17 and went a bit too wide not reading the gaps properly but Luke was slow to go around the building at the end so I got in front here. Rest of the course was pretty straightforward once you worked out which control was next but I had to work pretty hard to hold Luke off in a sprint finish.

Didn't really feel as though I ran as hard as I could have, mostly because of having to work out which control was next and read the small gaps but partly still just a bit scared to push really hard.

Running warm up/down 6:14 [2] 1.16 km (5:22 / km) +5m 5:15 / km
shoes: Puma Faas 300

Ran home to get the car to take Amy and Robbie home. Intended to do a warm down with Tomas but somehow managed to lose him before we got started.

Lap of KP with Ivan. Felt as though we were taking it really easy this week but the pace was not too bad. Legs felt pretty good.

Also jogged to and from work and home for lunch.
