Orienteering race 1:27:18 intensity: (20 @1) + (14 @2) + (40 @3) + (1:21:38 @4) + (4:26 @5) *** 13.08 km (6:40 / km) +416m 5:45 / km

WA long champs at Frazzled.
I knew I didn't really have much chance of being competitive but last week's run at Marginata had given me just a slight glimmer of hope. Happy with how I ran through the first half of the course but it was pretty easy going so I knew was going to have some ground to make up in the second half. It was already obvious from the small climbs in the first half that I had been deluding myself to think I could have gone much faster at Marginata and in fact I had just paced myself well.

I went pretty much dead straight on the long leg to 13 and used the walk up the hill to plan the rest of the course. Despite walking all the way up the hill my legs were completely gone by 13. I struggled to get any speed up contouring out to 14 and started to lose concentration as well having trouble keeping track of which leg and losing time on 15 and 16.

Held it together reasonably well on the final lap around the hill and even managed to run all the way up the track up the hill to the Iast control albeit slowly. I saw fenry heading for 13 as I approached 20 and knew he had a fair bit of time on me and was looking a lot stronger than I was at that stage so figured the trophy was lost. I thought maybe I had been clean enough for second but fletch got me by a couple of minutes as well.

I knew I hadn't run well enough to earn a win so it was good to see fenry and fletch both have two solid runs to get the results they deserved. I'm still not feeling ready to concede defeat and hope to find some way to wrest the trophy back next year.

A good weekend all round I thought with most of the nomads squad having some reason to be encouraged by their performances. Might even motivate me to start organising some training to try to build some momentum for next season and beyond.

Running 18:00 [3] 3.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Nike Free 3.0 V4

Jog to the shops via KP. Feeling quite good.

Would have been interesting to run the middle distance champs as I think the terrain would have suited me better than the long but my heart started playing up about the time everyone was starting so I'm glad I decided not to enter.

Running (Stress Test) 18:00 intensity: (3:00 @1) + (3:00 @2) + (6:00 @3) + (3:00 @4) + (3:00 @5) 2.0 km (9:00 / km) +250m 5:32 / km

Exercise stress test on the treadmill.
Heart was fine through to the end of the test but didn't make it from the treadmill to the recovery bench before it started to play up.
All sorts of odd beats including some short bursts of flutter but no afib.
Looking at another op in December or February but will wait and see how it goes in the meantime. Looks as though I might be a difficult case so chances of success are relatively low.
Didn't sound too keen on me racing state champs but didn't say I couldn't so that sounds like a yes to me. Will try to make myself stop if my heart won't cooperate.
