Easter Day 2, Shanty Gully.
Heart unhappy before getting out of bed again so wasn't optimistic about this and considered not starting.
Started pretty slowly, followed Mark Nemeth into 1 and 2 then very hesitant on my own into 3. Went past 18 on the way to 4 then just as I came into the bottom of the gullies my heart rate jumped to 235 which I think is a record post flutter ablation. Walked the last 100m into 4 and the heart rate stayed over 230 for much of that. I knew I should give up but the heart rate dropped as I walked out towards the track and I was kind of looking forward to the next section so I tried jogging towards 5 for a little while. It didn't take long for the heart rate to climb again and I felt pretty awful so it wasn't too hard to convince myself to turn around and follow the course home from 19 instead.
Disappointing as I thought the course was going to suit me pretty well. Felt like I was really missing out not getting to suffer the way everyone else did.

Easter Day 1 Over the Border.
Heart not great again overnight and in the morning but had settled by the time I got to the event and was ok on the run to the start.
Usual conservative start but still only made it to number 1 before my heart started to play up again. Not quite on target to 1 but saw it just off to my right. 2 and 3 weren't too bad because they were all downhill. Started to suffer a bit on 4 then 5 was a pretty slow jog, lots of walking to 6 and 7 and a wide route choice on 8 to avoid any climb. Heart rate had dropped to a more normal rate (but still in AFib) on the downhill out of 8 so I was happier to continue a steady jog for the rest of the course.
No significant mistakes but some hesitations on 6, 7 and 14 and lost time with my wide route on 8. Surprised to finish as high as 10th on the day, I expected to be a few minutes behind the middle of the field.

Easter Prologue. Started conservatively and then went into AFib so it was a pretty clean but slow run. Reasonably happy to still be quite close to the main bunch but not so happy with the hours of dizzy spells afterwards. Not sure it is a good idea to run the other days but pretty sure I will anyway.

Jogged around one of the courses for next week's event at Cascades. Heart rate was over 160 standing still at the start so I was moving pretty slowly. Took a while to get into it and had a bit of trouble spotting the tiny pieces of corflute that were used to mark the controls but overall the navigation was ok.
Heart really bad after finishing, still having dizzy spells 5 hours later.

Note
(rest day)

Full day travelling to Stanthorpe. Got up at 5am to get taxi to the airport and arrived at the Stanthorpe Country Resort at 8pm.

House is amazing. 5 bedrooms, one with ensuite double spa bath, 3 large flat screen TVs (one in a theatre room with recliner seats with drink holders), free internet, swimming pool, 8 seater spa, sauna, tennis court, cricket net, full size billiard table, arcade game with 48 classic games from the 80s, ps2 with real car seat and force feedback steering wheel, two 4 burner BBQs and more on 17 acres 4km out of town.
Not sure I'll bother going orienteering.
