Orienteering 37:02 intensity: (9 @1) + (17 @2) + (3:16 @3) + (6:02 @4) + (27:18 @5) 4.89 km (7:35 / km) +125m 6:43 / km

Yetar Spring H2. Reading ahead too much running up the track to 1 so I wasn't really clear about what to do when I left the track at the top of the hill then read the description for 2 and stood on the wrong side of the boulder for a while wondering what I'd done wrong.
Heart was twitchy going across to 3 so I tried slowing down but went into AFib about when I crossed the track anyway. Lost some time on 3 which seemed a bit high then walked all the way to 4 with my heart rate reaching 229 and staying over 220 for a couple of minutes at the top of the hill.
Got thrown by the vegetation changes around 4 and wasted a couple of minutes allowing Henry to catch me. Stuck with Henry through the slow going to 5 and long downhill to 6 but I wasn't feeling too good heading into the long leg to 8 and I clearly wasn't going to be able to stay with Henry so I punched 15 instead and headed to the finish.

Orienteering 54:26 intensity: (36:38 @0) + (17:42 @1) + (6 @2) 3.52 km (15:29 / km) +84m 13:50 / km

Liam was itching to get out on the E course when I finished so I went straight out again after downloading. Lots of short bursts of fast running in the first few controls but I think the long walk to the start and two big hills in the first half was a bit much for Liam so the second half was very slow.
Numerous unmapped tracks, an optimal route choice going off the map and a misplaced control all in the first half so not really an ideal introduction to orienteering for beginners.

Nav Dash UWA. Tried to talk myself out of this one but I couldn't resist. My heart had been ok all day so I thought I would try going hard from the start until my heart went and then jog the rest. Thought I might try to beat Henry on the first control but after watching him start I realised I was still too scared to push that hard so I just started a fairly normal pace for me. Didn't feel smooth at all through the early controls and my heart didn't feel quite right but was always in the 150s when I checked so I kept pushing until halfway to 5 when it jumped up over 200.
I tried to back right off but I couldn't make myself slow down enough to get the heart rate under control. After a while I started to feel quite comfortable so I just cruised the second half with the heart rate mostly between 200 and 220. Felt a bit worse when the heart rate dropped after finishing but it was back in NSR within an hour I think and has been fine since.

ahr:113 max:140 shoes: Nike Free Run

Very slow run. Started out through KP then decided to try running a bit faster around the river. Heart was fine but I wasn't enjoying it so I stopped and went back to a more enjoyable pace for the trip home.

Easy jog through KP with some drills and strides at Saw Ave. Very slow warming up but felt good doing the drills and strides. Heart good.

Running 50:28 intensity: (8:53 @1) + (9:52 @2) + (5:02 @3) + (4:22 @4) + (22:19 @5) 7.91 km (6:23 / km) +87m 6:03 / km
ahr:146 max:201 shoes: Nike Free Run

Easy run around KP. Initially planned to try to find the Rosalie Runners after their regroup at the war memorial but my heart started to play up after about 12 minutes and then got worse at about 20 minutes. I tried to keep walking any time it went over 175 but it seemed I was going to have to walk all the way home so I switched to just jogging as easily as I could so it wouldn't take so long. Happier about the decision to have an ablation now.

Running 34:15 intensity: (43 @1) + (3:43 @2) + (11:27 @3) + (18:22 @4) 7.82 km (4:23 / km) +78m 4:10 / km
ahr:142 max:159 shoes: Nike Free 3.0

Legs felt good from the start today so I wanted to run a solid pace and go as far as I could in the limited time available. My planned route was blocked off behind naturescape and I made the mistake of going the long way around which meant I had to really push the pace to get back in time to get the kids to school. Didn't feel quite so good at the higher intensity but still the most enjoyable run I've had in a while. Heart was good for the whole run but went into AFib as soon as I stopped and the heart rate was around 150-190 for the next 10 minutes before settling down.

Note

Just phoned the cardiologist to get myself put on the waiting list to get a PVI ablation done at SCGH.
