Event: Evedon Ridge

10 AM

Orienteering 42:27 [4] *** 6.58 km (6:27 / km) +268m 5:22 / km
shoes: Adidas Swoop Blue

H1 at Evedon Ridge. Heart was well behaved today so had a pretty enjoyable run. Minor fumbles on a couple of controls but nothing very significant, had a bit of trouble reading the details on the fairly poor quality print. Felt pretty unfit but I did manage to run up all the hills at least. Beat Andreas the swiss schoolboy by about 3 minutes.

Event: The Maidens

1 PM

Running warm up/down 7:16 intensity: (32 @1) + (2:03 @2) + (4:41 @3) 1.28 km (5:40 / km) +4m 5:35 / km
ahr:128 max:136 shoes: Adidas Swoop Blue

Warm up for Maidens. Didn't do it deliberately but every time I checked my hr was exactly 130.

Orienteering 38:10 intensity: (16 @1) + (9 @2) + (50 @3) + (9:11 @4) + (27:44 @5) *** 4.99 km (7:39 / km) +87m 7:02 / km
ahr:177 max:216 shoes: Adidas Swoop Blue

Hard course at Maidens on a map with no tracks. Lost about 5 minutes on 4 partly because I didn't realise there were descriptions printed on the map and I couldn't read the little squiggles in the circle so I kept looking on the spurs instead of in the gullies. Heart started being silly about this point too so the rest of the course was a walk/jog with an average heart rate of 190. Still managed to win thanks to everyone else being just as hopeless as me.

ahr:133 max:152 shoes: Nike Free 3.0

Along the beach in Busselton. Got tired of trying to stick to 130 so picked it up a bit in the last km or two. Tempo pace seems to be about 4:35/km now.

Running 28:30 [2] 5.0 km (5:42 / km) +80m 5:17 / km
ahr:128 max:134 shoes: Adizero Ace

Same as yesterday but much warmer this morning, perfectly comfortable in a singlet. Able to get going a little better on the way home this time without the heart rate climbing, even managed the last km in 5:00.

Running 29:41 [2] 5.0 km (5:56 / km) +80m 5:30 / km
shoes: Nike Free 7.0

Easy 5k loop. First and last km pretty cold, otherwise nice. Trying to keep the heart rate below 130 again which still requires going very slowly.

Running 46:07 intensity: (32 @1) + (33:12 @2) + (12:23 @3) 7.3 km (6:19 / km) +102m 5:54 / km
ahr:127 max:137 slept:7.2 weight:69.6kg shoes: Nike Free 7.0

Easy rehab loop. Made a real effort to actually keep my hr below 130 most of the time instead of just running a speed I thought should keep it below 130. I was going to just do 5k but since I was going so slowly I thought it would be ok to go a bit further and it seemed a shame to waste a nice morning on my day off.

Note
(rest day)

Had planned to run but yesterday felt a lot harder than I anticipated so I thought I should back off a bit.
