Very easy jog home from the in-laws. I wanted to go back the long way but decided I'd better stick to the direct route when my heart rate reached 160 jogging slowly downhill to the decision point. Caught up to Michi Muroi who was nearing the end of his 40k loop and slowed down even more to run the rest of the way with him. Michi has run a 2:23 marathon and still runs close to 3 hours at age 50+ but I still struggled to go slowly enough to stay with him despite my heart rate reaching 191 at that stage. Much nicer running mid afternoon than it would have been in the morning.

Note

Turns out Michi had run the Perth Marathon the previous weekend in 3:06 so he had good reason to be a little tired 30k into his 40k run.

Easy rehab loop. It really was easy but for some reason my heart thought it was a tempo run. I would have said the intensity was about half 2 and half 3. Lovely conditions. Shoes feel really good but they pick up way too much gravel.

Running hills 16:00 intensity: (3:00 @1) + (3:00 @2) + (3:00 @3) + (3:00 @4) + (4:00 @5) 1.8 km (8:53 / km) +290m 4:55 / km

Stress Test.
Heartbeat started to go irregular once my heart rate got up near 170 which was in the last 4 minutes and was still irregular when they took the monitor off some minutes after stopping. Max recorded was 192 but probably really a little faster in short bursts. Felt like I was struggling for air a bit with the irregular beats but still could have kept going a bit longer if there was any point. Didn't seem to be a normal atrial fibrillation pattern except maybe in very short bursts as there were still atrial beats visible most of the time when the ventricular rate was irregular. Couldn't extract much more information without waiting another 3 weeks to see the cardiologist. She did point out some things that might indicate a heart attack risk if I had any indications of heart disease (which I don't).

Previous stress test was 28th of May 2009
In that test I only did 14 minutes but I was increasing every 2 minutes then instead of the standard 3 minutes I did this time so didn't get to the same level this time.

Jogged to the bakery to get some bread for Liam's lunch. Tried to breathe through the nose all the time to limit the intensity. A bit difficult with a runny nose but found it quite meditative at times. Really nice to be out running.
