Orienteering race 26:32 intensity: (12 @0) + (3 @1) + (7 @2) + (2:06 @3) + (23:17 @4) + (47 @5) **** 3.01 km (8:50 / km) +100m 7:34 / km

Sprint at Bryce's Flat near Daylesford.
Stood around for a while near 4 looking for a knoll, eventually spotted a flag sitting out in the middle of nowhere. Checked the number and found it was mine but still couldn't see any knoll. Lost a bit more time at 9 because I didn't realise the depression was in the top of a knoll. Got the route choice right to 13 but then left it the wrong way and ended up at 15 instead of 14 losing a minute or two. Similar error leaving 18 cost a bit more time and was generally pretty slow and cautious all the way around.
Heart was fine but legs never felt good. Didn't really work very hard physically.

Orienteering race 39:02 intensity: (1:10 @3) + (19:00 @4) + (18:52 @5) *** 6.06 km (6:27 / km) +200m 5:32 / km
ahr:142 max:167 shoes: Adidas Swoop Blue

Mixed relay on The Blow Hole and Bryces Flat. Legs felt crap again at the start but improved a bit throughout the race. No real mistakes and managed to keep up with the packs reasonably well. Felt as though we were really a part of the race which was a nice change for a relay. Good fun and a nice way to finish the weekend.

Eureka Challenge, 3 loop mass start long race.
Heart still wasn't right at the start so I had to take it pretty slowly. I sort of tried to stay in touch with the back of the pack for a while hoping it would come good but gave it up when I made a little mistake on the 3rd control. Did a fair bit of walking around the rest of the first loop and must have been very close to the back of the field. I had a couple of brief sections of feeling good for about 10 seconds late in the first loop and then came good more permanently early in the second loop. I took it easy around the rest of the second loop to make sure I was ok and then tried to lift the pace in the final loop which was common.
Legs still never felt good on the last loop despite jogging the first two but I did manage to catch a few people including Blair on the hill in the SW corner and then ran the long leg reasonably well. On the second long leg I had to change my plan at the last minute because my legs were just refusing to take me up hill any more so I contoured around to the right to give them a bit of a break. Got past Reubster and Lachlan here and then got close to David Brownridge near the end but I wasn't really interested in trying to get past him.
A disappointing day. Definitely not going to nominate for WOC this year now.

Running warm up/down 6:00 [2] 1.0 km (6:00 / km)
max:188 shoes: Adidas Swoop Blue

Warm up for Eureka Challenge was a bit shorter than intended for a couple of reasons.
1. The queue to register was ridiculously long and slow so we had almost no time left before the briefing.
2. My tachycardia kicked in after about 5 minutes when I stopped for a leak so I spent most of the rest of the time just trying to relax and get it to settle down.
Heart rate got over 180 while standing still.

Running 51:09 [3] 10.0 km (5:07 / km) +100m 4:52 / km
slept:6.0 weight:67.9kg shoes: Nike Pegasus Black

Slept in this morning so had to run in KP after work. Supposed to be a 70min "run for feel" but didn't really have time. Felt a bit stiff in the quads and right knee early on. Bumped into Rob Jessop half way through so ran the second half with him and a couple of his workmates. Feeling pretty good by the finish.
Saw the cardiologist at lunchtime and booked in for some more tests.

Running intervals 51:53 intensity: (5:00 @1) + (26:53 @2) + (2:00 @4) + (18:00 @5) 10.16 km (5:06 / km) +50m 4:59 / km

4x1200 in 4.20 with 1min rest
Warm and very still morning but the sprinklers were going on the oval and it was distinctly cooler as soon as you stepped onto the grass so good conditions for running intervals really.
Feeling tired again but managed to get into a pretty good groove at the target pace and didn't have any trouble maintaining it throughout the session.
Nearly stepped on a bandicoot on the way down to the oval.
