H2 course at Nganga. Just going through the motions and not really concentrating today with a lack of motivation due to instructions not to push myself too hard. Small mistakes on 3, 8, 14, 15 and 16 plus a bit inefficient at other times. A bit sore around both achilles towards the end but seemed fine as soon as I stopped.
Nice enough out there but I really can't be bothered if I can't push myself hard. I suspect the the badge event next week will turn into another aimless wander around the bush for me. I hope I get the all clear to go hard at Umuna.

Long run starting about 7am. Wanted to keep my feet dry so headed out the powerline then Atkins Rd then down towards North Ledge. After about 40 minutes of running fairly solidly but without real purpose and feeling a little stiff and tired I thought this is silly and just jogged for a bit before deciding to do 3x20min at MP with 5min recoveries to make up the rest of the 2 hours. Started with a pretty hilly loop down to Fred Jacoby park and back then a couple of flatter stretches up to Mundaring on the Kep track and then home via railway trail, Charles Rd (bitumen) and the fenceline. Enjoyed the second half much more, felt a sense of purpose and the time passed much faster. No breakfast before starting but had a carboshot before the last effort, not that I felt I needed it.

Started thinking about maybe running the city to surf marathon.

Running 36:30 [3] 7.35 km (4:58 / km) +120m 4:35 / km
shoes: Adistar Ride

Early rehab (6:45am) so I could make it to my appointment with the cardiologist. Calves still very tight, particularly early on, otherwise feeling ok. Didn't get wet but had to do a bit of bush bashing to avoid all the puddles going right across the track.

Cardiologist advised me not to do anything too intense until I have done some more tests to see if my abnormal ecg traces are just caused by athletes heart or a rare condition that could kill me any minute. I had been planning to do some powerline hills tomorrow but may have to revise that. 100k weeks at marathon pace are ok.

Running hills 1:07:04 intensity: (45:04 @2) + (10:00 @3) + (10:00 @4) + (2:00 @5) 10.8 km (6:13 / km) +350m 5:21 / km

More hills on O'Connor Rd. Shorter warm up this time straight to the bottom of the hill then did 3 long hills and 3 or 4 shorter hills just striding strongly at a slowish pace before playing around with some skipping, hopping and sprints on the steepest part. Calves still a bit tight but generally feeling quite good today. Much warmer this morning, wished I had worn a singlet at times.

Running (treadmill) 17:27 [3] 4.0 km (4:22 / km)
shoes: Nike Free 7.0

Short spin on the treadmill at 10pm. Couldn't get comfortable below 14km/h early on, kept braking and making the mat slip so did most at 14-15km/h. Had no problems when I slowed down to 12 for the last couple of minutes.

Running 1:09:51 [2] 13.5 km (5:10 / km) +150m 4:54 / km
shoes: Adistar Ride

Short loop in KP on my own before meeting Ben and doing the standard loop with him (44:59). Calves a bit stiff and sore to begin with, particularly the left, but feeling a lot better by the end.

Running hills 1:05:37 [3] 9.93 km (6:36 / km) +350m 5:37 / km
shoes: Nike Free 7.0

Ran with Rachel over to Charles Rd then up Charles and back to O'Connor to do pretty much the same hills session as Saturday. Still a bit tight in the calves otherwise not feeling too bad. Going so slowly at times that SportTracks reckons I was stopped for 3 minutes.

Running (pram) 19:15 [2] 3.41 km (5:39 / km) +30m 5:24 / km
shoes: Adistar Ride

Been feeling a bit slack so used taking the kids to the park as an excuse to fit in a short second run. Pushed Amy down to the train park plus a lap around the block waiting for Rachel and Liam to arrive. Had kind of hoped to do a bit more but it wasn't really convenient and my calves were a bit sore again so I didn't bother and just walked home.

Running 45:37 [2] 8.7 km (5:15 / km) +100m 4:58 / km
shoes: Adistar Ride

Usual lap of KP alone. Feeling a bit stiff and sore from yesterday so took it pretty easy but still hit the wall about half way around. Legs had loosened up pretty well by then and felt ok in little patches but the rest of the time I just wanted to stop and lie down. Hip flexors felt fine but a bit sore pretty much everywhere else with calves being the worst.
Had a bit of chest pain at times but I think that was from carrying kids at the zoo yesterday and not related to my heart problems and lack of energy.
