running 1:17:01 [4] 8.0 mi (9:38 / mi)
shoes: asics g-1000 3

New Licorice Fern loop with the team. The trails were really steep and windy and lots of fun! Dropped back after 5ish miles after a mile long hill but managed to catch up to the pack again.

running 58:22 [3] 8.0 mi (7:18 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 7

Old Jones Road. Ran with the team 4 miles out, wasn't feeling it, so stopped to stretch and caught them on their tempo on the way back. I was planning on going slower, 7:30 or more on the way back since my legs were super sore, but my pace ended up being the same as the way out.

running 59:31 [3] 7.04 mi (8:27 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 7

Crappy run but fun nonetheless. Got a bloody nose 2 miles in (I've been sick, so It must've been from sniffling), tried to pinch it for a few minutes, then decided, screw it, I'd rather look gnarly and be able to breathe. 4 miles in I tripped on a root and faceplanted. Yay! Legs got sore towards the end too, so yeah, by body wasn't too happy, but oh well. :)

legs=sore

Friday Jan 27, 2017 #

running 58:00 [3] 7.8 mi (7:26 / mi)
shoes: Asics excite4 1

Pollo by myself. It was my first pretty fast, long run since coming back from being sick, so I was definitely getting tired and sore.

alpine skiing 40:00 [3]

Got a few runs in with a friend after lessons. 2 hours picking kids up off of the snow doesn't really count as physical activity ;)

Thursday Jan 26, 2017 #

running 48:00 [3] 6.2 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Asics excite4 1

Drug Park with Sophia on the way there. Felt kinda crappy and I ended up running a lot slower on the way back.

shoes: Asics excite4 1

easy run, still feeling meh

conditioning 15:00 [3]

I've started using the pullup machine in the weight room after runs, today I decided to do a little extra with dumbells

Tuesday Jan 17, 2017 #

running 43:00 [3] 5.5 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 7

Shorter run with Nicole. Freaking WET. I think my clothes were completely saturated with water. I might be getting sick but I'm not sick yet...

orienteering (micro) 20:00 [3] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

2 micro courses set up by Mike. Flow is definitely something I'm going to be focusing on this spring.

orienteering (pace count/compass) 20:00 [2] 1.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

Caroline and I experimented with our 100m pace counts at different speeds (walking-66, jogging-49, faster-42, fast-37)- got the idea that it's not always the same amount for 100m. Then triangle compass drills using pace count, trying to land as close as possible to where you started.

orienteering 30:00 [3] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

re-ran the varsity course. spent some time walking around scoping out the areas I was confused on near 6 and 10 and tested alternate routes to a few controls

Saturday Jan 14, 2017 #

soccer (game) 1:20:00 [3]

We won 6-0. Or maybe 8-0. It got a little boring getting easily past their defenders. . .

Friday Jan 13, 2017 #

running 58:00 [3] 7.8 mi (7:26 / mi)
shoes: Asics excite4 1

Jimmy with fast peeps (Dhaman, Kelsey, Brigette, Sean). This is the group I need to train with to get as far as I can this spring.

alpine skiing 30:00 [2]

took a couple runs post-2-hours-of-picking-tempermental-three-year-olds-off-of-the-snow with some other instructors. Then drove home by myself, got gas, and drove off with my wallet still on the top. (It's not there anymore)... Sucky end to a sucky week I guess? I just hope I can get a new temporary license in time for the SAT next Saturday...

Thursday Jan 12, 2017 #

running tempo 56:26 [4] 7.28 mi (7:45 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Ravenna 7

Lake Boren with some teammates. 2 miles out one direction from the park, then build up to a tempo on the way back and out the other direction. Tough to keep up so I told myself I'd end my tempo at the park but felt good so ended up tempoing 3 miles around 7:00-7:10 ish pace

soccer 1:30:00 [3]

running warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: inov8 oroc 280

orienteering race 28:11 [4] ** 3.12 mi (9:02 / mi)
spiked:9/14c shoes: inov8 oroc 280

Made a couple marginal route choices but other than that, was a pretty good race! I was racing one of the varsity boys at the end and managed to beat him to the finish but apparently he started 2 minutes behind me. I wonder what his time would have been if he wasn't following me for half of the race...

orienteering race 59:05 [4] **** 6.0 mi (9:51 / mi)
spiked:6/16c shoes: inov8 oroc 280

Mike printed out a trailless map for me to use bigger features for navigation. Made it a lot harder, but I learned to do some educated guesswork at trails in dark green, and realized control descriptions are useful for more than just in the control circle... thanks #10...
