Orienteering race 53:40 [3] 4.07 km (13:11 / km)
(sick) shoes: VJ bold

Not so much ill as dying in the heat. Let myself fall over at one point because I was so hot and dead. The heat really got to me and even though I was leading the course up to a point it had been making me slow and I couldn't concentrate properly.
On my way out of no.9 I sat down under the shade of a rock and decided if I would retire or carry on. In the end I decided to walk the rest of the course. Even doing this, I knew I had a good chance of doing well. But then two controls later (no.11) the control wasn't even there so I just gave up completely. I did get reinstated but I didn't really care at this point.
I wasn't paying that much attention to the rest of my course so a load of dog poo on the path which was probably the reason I took the wrong path at a fork because I wasn't looking up. I did get a little bit lost here I have to admit, because I didn't realize I'd gone a different way. There was a huge depression in front of me, but I assumed like the rest of the map it just wasn't marked because there were some hills around it.
The heat definitely wasn't as bad when I was walking. And because I finished the course, I won. And got a little sort of trophy. I don't really want it because it's such an insignificant race which I did terrible in.

Running 25:30 [2] 3.88 km (6:34 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32

Morning run with Louise. We were both tired 2 minutes into the run and had a full day of shopping ahead, so we decided to keep it short and slow. Took it out of Louise up and down the last hill :)

Running warm up/down (Warm Up) 3:15 [3] 0.4 km (8:07 / km)

Jog up the hill to the start.

Orienteering 26:22 [3] 2.52 km (10:28 / km)
shoes: VJ bold

Lindsey King's training- Middleton Woods
It was nice to have a few hills so I felt I had more physical benefit. The courses got harder today as well and I found them quite useful. I think it was good to have the small sections of map for each leg which also needed re-orientating at each control because the sections of map were rotated. I think this helped me try to do this quickly and I was thinking faster.

Running warm up/down (Warm Down) 1:17 [3] 0.19 km (6:45 / km)

Jog back down to the car park.

Note

I think I need to try a thumb compass. Based on what Nev said about how I already do it as 'a base-plate used as a thumb compass' and that works for me, I would like to try a thumb compass. The only reason my dad doesnt use one is he finds it in the way, but i think it will do the opposite for me- I currently wear my watch and my dibber and my compass on my right wrist.
