Orienteering 1:18:00 [3] 7.5 km (10:24 / km)

Lagganlia day 1- Uath Lochans and the Checkerboard Area
Aiming off, bearings and star relay at Uath Lochans.
Fine Navigation on the checkerboard area- no coaches jumping out and shouting but a 1:15000 map which was smaller than white course descriptions. It was so hard to read when running and you had to count the amount of squares you were passing. It was done on age and both times I caught my 30 seconds on Alice and we ran together for the rest. It was harder to get lost that way because if we did we would've told each other.
Roughly the time and distance.

Orienteering race 36:26 [3] 4.3 km (8:28 / km)
shoes: VJ bold

Day 5 Croeso- Margam Country Park
Within walking distance from where we were saying but we had to drive anyway because we were going home after. Early start was a bit unlucky with all the bracken to crash through. Probably created some decent elephants as I stumbled through it. Not really getting the luck this week. It was a pretty bad run but I still somehow came second (to a late starter...). My route to six was going about 30 meters through some bracken -which hadn't been too bad so far- so I didn't have to all the way round the path. But the bracken got more than head high and head high brambles started to get mixed in. I probably lost a minute and a half at least.
The next leg I had the Belgian (who I'd caught up but then caught me back up on the way to 6) running with me. She completely distracted me and I lost a good few minutes on that control. I need to get better at ignoring people on my course.
Finished second overall to Anna Harris. Rosie was only a point behind me, but I'm not that fussed because if all the days counted I might've won.

Orienteering race 25:56 [3] 3.75 km (6:55 / km)

Croeso day 4
A lovely moor. Quite easy, very enjoyable. Won by 3 seconds. I ran in the fog and messed up number one by running right past it (it was so foggy I couldn't see the wall). Went to 3 other controls all within about 50 meters of my control before seeing it. I knew I was in vaguely the right place but I just couldn't see it. Only real mistake. Lost a minute and half. Wouldn't have done it out of the fog. And, of course, the fog lifted for Rosie and Anna who were my main overall competition. So frustrating.

Margam Forest- Croeso day 3
Would've got quite a lot of points for this day and probably won overall if it wasn't for this Belgian who did 33, but did terrible every other day. I was 2nd on the day. It was a decent run, but not great. Everyone exaggerated how bad the area was- I quite liked it. I made one worse route choice to go round instead of over the hill, but I don't think it mattered too much. Also no.1 was a bit slow.

Orienteering race 30:36 [3] 3.8 km (8:03 / km)

Croeso day 2
Kenfig again. Much better- no real mistakes. Approaching one control I thought it looked like I should be going right around some trees but then I saw about 3 people going left who were obviously on my course and they completely distracted me. Stood still for 5/10 seconds to double check then hesitantly went the other way. Still got there about 20 seconds before them. I just needed to be confident in my decision. They didn't even look like very experienced orienteers...

Orienteering race 39:17 [3] 4.7 km (8:21 / km)

Croeso day 1
Sand dunes- did quite badly and was struggling to distinguish features. My big mistake (no.5) was very annoying- came so close to the control then turned around and wasted another 4 minutes or so. I found 2 by pure luck and guesswork. I found a path and didn't know where it was so I had to guess and try use it to find a control off the path- which I did, but it took me a while. Awful weather towards the end.

Running warm up/down (Warm up) 4:37 [1] 0.6 km (7:42 / km)

Orienteering (YHJS) 1:22:00 [3] 10.5 km (7:49 / km)
shoes: VJ bold

Did bad/okay on the training courses and quite slow- a little off with my compass.
Smashed the relay- spiked everything pretty much, but unfortunately the rest of the team weren't so lucky.

Running 36:30 [2] 5.3 km (6:53 / km)

Had to do a couple laps of the park to make it a decent run.

Aire Club picnic and score thing
I was second woman to Mum- not sure how I let her beat me but it was only by one control and she doesnt think she went to one of them which they gave her because it didn't have a punch.. Lucy and Laura planned and it was really good, if a bit easy but it kind of had to be.
My watch says I did 370m climb which is just a little exaggeration. I'm not sure why it keeps doing that. Nice to get out I guess.

Lindsey King's training at Danefield
Forgot my watch so this is based on Matt's recording- but we did all the same things so it should be accurate (I did add a little time I think). Good training even though on me and Matt's relay I was dying going all the way up the hill and he kept running off- I was okay back on the flat though and we did win. We did some line courses which I was totally happy with until the last one where there were just boulders everywhere and clearings everywhere so I sort of gave up trying to find my way in that part.

Running 35:13 [3] 5.1 km (6:54 / km)
shoes: Nike Pegasus 32

According to Garmin 376m of climb. I don't think that's quite accurate, but it was a bit hilly.
With Dad- first run in two weeks. I do PE at least. Need to get back into it for Lagganlia especially seeing as I have the Welsh before and school right up until the Welsh.
