My first 21km run. Went pretty well. Ran steadily at the beginning and picked it up at the end. Ran the first part with Liz Mulder: had a long chat about orienteering

Feeling tired, but thats normal for first days back at university. Also got sore legs so decided to rest today. Planning my assault on the local cycling scene, but haven't been on my bike for 2 months. The aim is too get around the 94.7 with a minimum of discomfort.

Orienteering race (Groen Kloof - Brown Cours) 1:42:58 [5] *** 10.17 km (10:07 / km) +300m 8:49 / km
spiked:15/20c rhr:44 slept:7.0 shoes: Saloman XA Pro 3D #2

1st 7km on 1:15 000 and next 3 km on 1:7500. Thats new to me. The 2nd map was an easy run through the park.

Had a terrrible race. Mind wasn't in it, neither was the heart. I think I might be getting sick because had to daudle to up hill to 14 and through the park: I had an aching heart. Maybe sudden change in altitude. Tried a thumb compass for 1st time. I think I'l stick to base plate for this sort of event but I'd like to try the thumb on the faster events.

Made stupid mistakes on 4 and 9. 11 and 12 were in dodgy areas and well hiddens so lost quite a lot of time there.
