Orienteering race (BADO Pamber+Silchester) 1:06:34 [5] *** 9.53 km (6:59 / km) +92m 6:40 / km
ahr:154 max:168 spiked:12/17c (injured)

Blue course, nominal 7.1km/125m

Generally a bit tentative - with my R ankle still huge and sore I had to watch where I was putting my feet and had to slow right down to maintain map contact. Poor attackpoint for #1, looped around (+60s), Reasonable to #2. Failed to find the first indistinct path and ended up at the 'wrong' corner of the open area for #3 - realised what I'd done and relocated OK. Good to #4, followed a ditch although doubted myself at the time until it popped up. Dithered at a stream crossing for #5, then pretty good for #6, #7, #8 on the bracken heath - these could've been bingo controls but I seemed to find them OK. Had to double back for a gate in the fence that wasn't clearly marked for #9 - annoying (+30s). Small loop for #10 in several identical depressions (+30s)

Couldn't see a good route to #11, went cross-country through bracken, following contours - not good, much too slow, but OK once out the other side and in the soggy valley beyond.

Then big error to #12, ended up in the wrong open area to the S after a confusing path junction, probably wasted 3:30 looping/walking around it before I realised what I'd done.

Clean to #13, #14, #15, just jogging along, paths in the main - oh to have a bit of pace here! A bit of a fight off a path for a short cut on the way to #16 (marked as open forest, I don't think so), but homed in on the control pretty well after that using ditches to guide me. Didn't go aggressive in cutting the corner to #17.

Not fast enough. 15th/60 (9th until my error at #12)
