Orienteering race (Barossa Army O Blue) 1:04:55 [5] **** 8.1 km (8:01 / km) +190m 7:10 / km
Huge amount of snow on the ground today!! I love orienteering in the snow bc it's usually so easy just to go straight bc the vegetation gets pretty flattened - although took me a while to work this out. Suffered a bit of brain fog for the first 15mins, not as bad as recently but still not great. Settled well after that & other than wandering off without a plan 5-6 (90s lost), I'm really only annoyed with myself for losing time on #18 (#56) which was a pit in dark green on a spur - drawn on the contour that starts to drop away, but I spent 90s wandering around on top of the spur before I looked at the site properly - tutt tutt. I wasn't moving fast today, but my legs comfortably plodded the whole way without stopping (apart from when I went straight through an icy bog to #13 which was a bit stupid as I had to pick my way through whereas I should have gone around the track instead), so happy with that. Great course & great area today - renewed my faith in Army O.
