Orienteering race (SE Middle Distance champs) 37:47 [4] 4.76 km (7:56 / km) +50m 7:32 / km

Expected to be tired in the legs after Friday's ride, but luckily there was no climb, & loads of tracks to use (although I confused a lot of unmapped ones for mapped ones, so ended up doing more distance a few times), & was able to maintain a constant pace today, pain-free. Thought #3 (212) was too far left, which would explain why I was too far right on #4, but luckily saw my 2min man coming twds me as I was standing around blankly looking for #4, & figured he was heading to #5, so I kept going from where he'd come from, and the map started making more sense. He spoke to me on the way to #6 - I think he was telling me I should have gone right instead of straight (eh? focus on your own route mate), & it distracted me a bit, but once I got away from him I settled again. Biggest time loss was when I couldn't get through some dark green over a creek near the end, so hacked through the brambles & nettles to the track & came at it from the other side. Perfect run today would have been 34mins, but happy with the win & defended last years win.

Very pleased for DD to finish with a faster time than me, despite him doing a longer course, & getting top 10 in the tough M45/50 class :-)

Cycling (Box Hill from home) 5:30:00 [3] 135.0 km (2:27 / km) +1615m 2:18 / km

Planned a great route through quiet roads from home via Lingfield to Box Hill & back today. Really enjoyed the glass-smooth road surface up Box Hill (split was 8:01, not bad after 65k getting there). Negative split riding home, & felt pretty good all day apart from a mongrel hill 19k from the end that I struggled up - appropriately called Pains Hill - & then Sundridge Hill also sucked & seemed to go on & on.

Quite pooped tonight.

Cycling (Other side of A20) 1:45:00 [3] 43.0 km (2:27 / km) +685m 2:16 / km

Shorter loop today across to the other side of the A20 & back via Knatts Valley/Crockenhill. Enjoyed it, bit warmer outside, less wind, & felt strong to the end.

Attempted a run off the bike with DD. Was a fail from me bc both hamstring/glute attachments really painful, and right calf very tight (it cramped this morning when I got up. Warning sign really to stay off it). So I did a quick core session instead. It seemed harder than it should have. Need to start strength work again.

Note

Yeah, feel crap today. Did too long a ride yesterday.

Cycling (Chiddingston Castle loop) 3:55:27 [3] 86.0 km (2:44 / km) +1365m 2:32 / km

Probably should have done half this distance today given I'm still recovering from JK, but surprisingly came good after about 40k & finished the last half feeling better than the first half. Lovely loop via country lanes through Lingfield & across to Chiddingston Castle. We stopped at the Chiddingston tea room for BLT & coke. Then home up Bayleys, Ide & Star Hills (new road surface on Star finally - so much nicer now). Bit of a cold headwind in places today.
