Walking 4:00:00 [3]

Much bigger adventure today (again was out for like 6hrs but I feel I can take some off). Again started with a steep track through the trees to Ciampedie (got to the top of the cable car before it started running haha), along the ridge, up and over a pass and all the way round Rotwand Roda De Vael and back down another path which got me to Vigo (neighbouring town). Wow wow wow it was the most incredible walk i'd ever done with the most amazing views. It was so much fun I didn't notice that I was getting sore till I was going back down through the trees - going down is hardwork!!! had particularly sore hips when I finished (and glutes from the up). Soooo good. Cooked by the end and in desperate need of lunch but sooooo goooood.

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Some very very basic glute stuff bc I was so sore from walking up and down the hills (more just conditioning really), then some very basic core which I wasn't motivated for at all so was a bit broken up so not very hard.

Run warm up/down 22:00 [1] 2.74 km (8:02 / km)

Run intervals (hills) 28:00 [5] 3.64 km (7:42 / km)

In Pozza di Fassa now, so did some early morning hill intervals before adventuring up some mountains. Session was 5x3mins (2mins) though I had a 5min break after the 3rd one because the track was getting so steep and brutal I decided to go back to the bottom to finish the last two from the slightly more reasonable section. Pretty tough going but I pushed hard and got it done!

Run warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.58 km (6:20 / km)

Walking 2:00:00 [3]

Went up the closest mountain to my accommodation (Sas Aut - not all the way up though). Had a gross walk in the rain/fog/cloud going straight up a steep track up the ridge in the trees, then got very lucky and popped out above the tree line to find a break in the weather once I hit the scree section and had some great views of the top cliffy parts of the mountain and across the valley. Wanted to do a much larger loop including going up the slightly smaller of the two peaks (you need via ferrata gear for the other one) but with thunderstorms forecast and the track being very exposed/ indistinct up high I decide to just pop over round the side and head back down - which provided an awesome track, awesome views and marmot sighting anyway so it was all g. Only mad bc the sun ended up coming out for a little bit, then it was just cloudy but there were no thunderstorms to be seen :// Was actually out more like 3 hrs but with so much stopping to check the map/ take photos I feel like I can take a bunch of time off for the log, so not really accurate at all.

Run 41:00 [3] 7.0 km (5:51 / km)

Last day in Bolzano but had a 1:30 bus which meant still time to do things. I had already done a tourist walk which had a fair bit of climb but a good view over the city that was longer than I thought and after yesterdays run my legs were dead. felt pretty much like rocks and struggled to keep the pace. Nevertheless it was a nice run up the river though the park to a castle (touristing to the last minute), then had to climb the hill which ended up being pretty steep to come back over. Intended to cross the path I had done earlier today to get a nice forest trail down, but took some wrong turns and ended up with a steeper downhill on the road ://

Run long 2:26:52 [3] 17.65 km (8:19 / km) +1110m 6:20 / km

Long run up to Colle de Villa, then across to Schneiderweissen and looped back down that side of the mountain. Boy was it steep getting up there, I'm pretty proud of my effort - but some really nice trails even when it was a bit rough underfoot, and some good views (not as good as expected though bc there were still trees on the top so I couldn't see down to the city), and a super nice scenic way to come down with better views than the top haha. This is just running time, but stopped loads to check the map, bc the trails weren't always marked clearly, and had a longer stop at the top to recover. Twas a nice adventure, but got me pretty cooked (it was my longest ever run in time and the most climb) before an afternoon of more touristing/ museum visiting!

Run 35:00 [3] 5.86 km (5:58 / km)

In Bolzano now - run to the mountaineering museum. Followed googles advice to go straight there. Bad move - it was along a main road so busy and gross and had to stop heaps for traffic lights, then had to change routes anyway once I got close bc it wanted me to go along a road with no footpath or space at all. Good museum though
12 PM

Run 35:00 [3] 6.39 km (5:29 / km)

Opted for a longer but much nice route home along the river, definitely worth it. Still had a little way to go but stopped running bc I didn't want to cook myself too much and wanted to de-sweat a little bit before going back to the hostel.
6 PM

Run warm up/down 15:00 [1] 2.19 km (6:51 / km)

Run intervals 26:16 [4] 5.93 km (4:26 / km)

So after a whole day of running to and from a museum, walking around there for a couple of hours and around town for another couple of ours I headed out for some intervals in the pouring rain! Unsurprising that these were pretty crap. Had planned 10x 2mins but decided to do 8 instead. Did the first couple very steady bc I was expecting to feel absolutely cooked like i'd been walking (though I didn't feel as bad as expected - but maybe also because I wasn't running hard enough), then thought I pushed harder on the 3rd/4th...but didn't get at extra distance so maybe not, then decided I had to do the last 4 really hard...but still not much extra.
Splits were: 0.51, 0.51, 0.50, 0.53, 0.54, 0.54, 0.52, 0.53.
Definitely could have pushed harder but I think bc I had in my head that I was already dead from a big day I just couldn't get myself to do it, so pretty disappointed with these efforts because I don't think they were of a benefit to my speed at all. But at least I did something and I guess I shouldn't have expected much after such a long day. Oh and I made myself do a bonus minute so that I actually had to try to go fast - it hurt but I still wasn't very fast...

Run warm up/down 10:00 [1] 1.67 km (5:59 / km)

Pre travel day - not sure if I'll get my planned run in now with delayed trains and horrendous weather

Run long 1:51:00 [3] 18.25 km (6:05 / km) +400m 5:29 / km

Nice long run down to the river, then up the next hill across the other side of the river (once I eventually found my way across the train line). Lukas had pointed me to a trail along the top and once I got there it was so so nice! Slightly rocky single track bumping along the ridge for a few ks was nice and ended in a castle, then back along some forest trails before heading down the other side than I had come up, where I got to a much easier and closer crossing of the train line which I had missed on the way in. Felt a bit lethargic at the start (probs have had too much sleep the last couple of days) but felt better once I got climbing, then felt quite good, apart from struggling slightly on the last couple of ks where I hit the hard flat stuff again. Had to stop a few times as well to read the map (mostly when I was looking at a small map trying to find the train line crossing, and deciding my route back) but nothing major. Really nice run and really nice morning out! Climb is a total guess...I didn't bother counting contours so it could be very very wrong.
