Orienteering race (Pretoria Zoo) 18:19 [3] *** 3.7 km (4:57 / km) +70m 4:31 / km
ahr:150 max:186 spiked:14/16c shoes: Salomon 3D S-Lab Red/Yel #2

Brilliant new venue. Well mapped by Nico.

Got off to a bad start at #1. Flag was down on the ground and I stood there for about 5-10s before seeing it. Wrong route to #3, and then went into the wrong fenced enclosure. Got caught in the green between outside fences. Re-ran this afterwards from the north and could easily have done it in 38s instead of 93s. Small stuff-up going into #4. Things got better from there. Had a good section over the hill. I took the optimum route choice from 10 to 11 by crossing the river. ;-)

River crossing should definitely have been out of bounds. Just a bit confusing with the brown line under the map though. Most people went around.

Rest of the race was spot on. Apart from the 2 mistakes and 1 dubious route choice, I had a pretty decent run. It gave me a lucky 4th place, only 1 min off the lead (longer if I hadn't crossed the river).

Good planning and good map! Great new AP features with the combined GPS upload and split times.

Note

Back from Switzerland. Was supposed to do Sabie Classic, but with Mac cancelling on me, I didn't feel like the drive down on my own.

XC (Freestyle) Skiing (Rothenthurm) 1:44:45 [3] 15.5 km (6:45 / km)
ahr:117 max:155

Hired freestyle skis and did the 16km loop at Rothenthurm. Overcast conditions with a touch of rain, but I survived. Felt better than last time, at least to start, and didn't feel so bad at the finish.

Alpine Skiing (Jungfrau) 5:30:00 [1] 74.0 km (4:28 / km)
shoes: Blizzard FS Poacher

Big day out to Jungfrau. Definitely in another league. So many slopes and lifts that I didn't even get onto all the lifts. Highlight is definitely the World Cup downhill run. Unfortunately I got to the bottom just as the chairlift broke. Had to walk out of there. Beautiful day with blue skies. 13 runs with max 52km/hr.

Alpine Skiing (Hoch-Ybrig) 5:20:00 [1] 85.0 km (3:46 / km)
shoes: Blizzard FS Poacher

Slightly foggy at higher levels. 21 runs down the slopes. Mx 52. Getting a bit bored of Hoch-Ybrig, been there too many times now.
