Note

Another rest day today to deload the tendons in my foot. Everything going according to plan - I'm feeling good to ramp up the walk run program and get up to full steam by the end of the week. Then I'll get a good 6 week period of training into JWOC - just under a training cycle which should have me peaking at the right time this year.

Water Running (a bit tired) 56:00 [2]

Feeling a little drained today, a lot of organising still ongoing. Got some mid terms back at uni and surprisingly I'm at the top of 2 classes! Unfortunately I think I'm slipping a little academically at the moment post mid terms with a lot of focus on training and Europe..

Running (10* 1min run 1min walk) 20:00 [1] 3.4 km (5:53 / km)

Barefoot. My foot is straining a little each stride but not at the point where I need to stop. Running on slightly uneven and quite soft grass so some extra strain on the foot which is important to challenge all the little muscles. Definitely need to ease through this first week but progress is good

Steeple (Drills) 20:00 [1]

Lots of drills today, I can get up on my toes no issues and started some bouncing again without a problem. Might do some more of these tgis week as it's a good way to build strength in the stabilising foot muscles without damaging anything

Strength/Conditioning (Gym) 30:00 [1]

Squeezed a little gym session in, just what I felt like. Was a very long day, between all these little sessions, uni and physio

Road Cycle (To/from scans) 53:23 [2] 24.1 km (27.1 kph) +366m

Down to milford for an ultrasound and xray on my foot. Preliminary was nothing on either - indicating that there is no obvious tissue damage yet to heal nor a stress fracture. Just a check to be thorough really, decided not to run today and give another days rest as I'm ahead of schedule.

Blustery ride, felt the full effects of a strong headwind and EVERY red light being badly timed on the way back up all the hills fml.

Road Cycle (Not a commute) 1:13:00 [2] 34.1 km (28.0 kph) +702m
ahr:148 max:178

Felt nice riding without a heavy backpack even if it was into some strong breeze!

Running (5*1min run) 10:00 [1] 1.6 km (6:15 / km)

Woo clearance to start running! Had an accupuncture session earlier so a very short 'wakeup' session as my foot was still feeling the effects. Felt incredible, can't tell if I'm much fitter or whether I was too excited to notice 3:45 pace shouldn't feel like easy pace

Strength/Conditioning (Intro 2) 35:00 [1]

Similar to last week, just the core and arms stuff mainly. Threw in a few body weight calf raises, my foot is 100% comfortable with any load bearing below running now so on Thursday I'll ramp up. I don't think I've ever felt so driven to train and win stuff as I do right now, can't wait until next week when I should be ready to do some light speed.

Note

Also semi-confirmed the events I'm running at WOC is the sprint and sprint relay! Some more things to be excited about!

Water Running (Lifting intensity) 1:15:00 [3]

Trying to get my HR up and my breathing going, made this a grindy as session

Water Running (Getting speedy) 1:16:00 [2]

Threw in a sprint or two for good measure. Every day my foot feels much better - no pain now at all and I can go on my toes. Hopefully this means I can start a week of walk run later this week and throw in some more calf specific strengthening in the gym in preparedness for getting back to full training (80km+) around the week of the 27th.
