Running ('Hilly' 70min) 1:10:15 [2] 14.6 km (4:49 / km) +366m 4:17 / km
shoes: Vivo Barefoot Black

Went to long bay cutting through a bit of the development and through the bush near home to get that 'hilly' feel. Came back along the coast picking a route with a lot of sharp climbs to try and make the run as savage as possible.

Bit dubious about doing 70mins in barefoot shoes on only my second run in them! But was ok, only issue is my toes bumping the end of the shoe on steep downhills. I suspect this may be a sign I'm still braking a little hard on these - and therefore my foot is slipping forward. 3 days off road for feet to recover, then I'll experiment trying to really let go on a couple of downs. A tough transition still ahead!

Note

Going to do the Auckland Middle tomorrow - a long way to go so I just entered the least tiring race to make sure I'm still getting some O race practice in without effecting training too much. Kinda mad they couldn't choose somewhere closer...

Running (Afternoon) 40:00 [1] 8.5 km (4:42 / km) +193m 4:14 / km
shoes: Vivo Barefoot Black

Trying out the new shoes

Running (Morning) 30:21 [1] 6.8 km (4:28 / km) +114m 4:07 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Ran to albany for some things. Shoes are pretty much dead so popped into shoe science and grabbed a new pair of vivobarefoot shoes - minimalistic road shoes basically. Been eyeing up finishing the transition to barefoot style shoes for a while, now that my current flats have worn right through, it is a good opportunity to switch while my feet are used to it.

Steeple 45:00 [1]

Good session. Stretching has been working and I'm a little more flexible. I'm so used to the water jump now it's no issues to clear it, just need to work on hurdling. Starting to do the drills more proficiently too

Running intervals (track 6*1km) 20:16 [4] 6.0 km (3:23 / km)
shoes: Saucony Endorphin Racer

Good session felt great. Coach said to run between 3:20-3:25 w 45sec rest which was a little intimidating (being 5-10sec faster than what I was running only a few weeks ago!) but proved to be only a mental obstacle. Felt comfortable, could have run 3:20 for all of them which is nice and positive. 3:24, 3:25, 3:24, 3:23, 3:22, 3:18.

Running warm up/down 25:30 [1] 5.3 km (4:49 / km) +90m 4:26 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Would have liked to have done a longer warm down but somehow got a nasty blister on one of my toes so did 10mins in bare feet.

Running (Morning) 30:08 [1] 6.7 km (4:30 / km) +150m 4:03 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Let myself go down beach road to the beach and took back a CR without having the HR go past 150 lol.

Running (afternoon) 45:38 [1] 9.9 km (4:37 / km) +180m 4:14 / km
shoes: Saucony Type A6

Strange weather today, sunny for my first run followed by thunderstorms which came from nowhere and lasted most of the day. Finished this run and boom! It's sunny and hot again wtf.

Running long (Casual long run) 1:46:06 [1] 19.2 km (5:32 / km) +519m 4:52 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no3)

Ran the first 70mins at casual pace with Meghan then upped it to easy pace for the last 35mins. Great day in riverhead for a nice run in the sun

Running (Riverhead easy roads) 49:49 [2] 10.8 km (4:37 / km) +300m 4:03 / km
shoes: Icebug Acceleritas4 (no3)

Just cruising the roads nice and comfortably. Took the wrong turn at the crossroads below the old map and missed 1km unfortunately. Did some strides and drills at the trig on the way back, felt really great today
