Hiking 2:33:00 [4] 5.85 mi (26:09 / mi)

Unfortunately we didn't have enought time to do the goat and catch our flight, so we went hiking in Catalina instead.

Out and back to Romero pools. Not sure I would call them pools, but it was a pretty mountain stream and a fun hike.

Urban O - Long - University of AZ

Urban O on campus, school was in session so there were students everywhere. No flags, just a clue sheet with multiple choice questions. This was my first urban event and it was actually pretty fun. The map was very easy to read, no difficult navigation decisions, so it was just all about speed. Only thing I strugged with was the 3D. One CP was a level below ground and it took me a while to figure out I had to go down a level. I was able to run the whole time and my knee felt fine!

Orienteering race 1:55:25 [4] 5.38 mi (21:27 / mi)

Red - Catalina State Park

Started off well, again on pretty open terrain. Had some trouble headed to 4, ended up on the wrong side of a spur and lost a decent amount of time figuring that out. Punched in at 6, looked at the map upside down and headed S instead of N....took me way too long to figure out I was headed opposite where I wanted to go. First time for everything I suppose. The next few CPs went smoothly. On the way to 10 I found a wash, but not the CP. Went back to the trail to re-attack and ran into BF...always seem to bump into him when I'm lost. Hit the CP right on the second time around, I'm not sure how I missed it the first time. Went back and forth with a few others for the last 3 CPs. Not my best performance, but still had fun.

Orienteering race 2:04:52 [3] 4.93 mi (25:20 / mi)

Red - Long - Catalina State Park

First time orienteering in the desert! BF had passed on his cold, so I was feeling a little under the weather. Navigation started off well. It was very open terrain, easy to keep track of where I was. Leg 4-5 was really long. I took the wash up to the control, which was very slow going, but it sounded like it was a popular route choice. Had some trouble with 8, it was a distinct rock in rocky terrain. There were rocks everywhere! And all were large enough to be distinct in MI. BF caught up to me here and we found the correct large rock. 10 was another one on a rock, seemed to be my downfall of the day. Wandered around for a bit before bumping into BF again (he had some trouble with 9) and following him to 10. Went smoothly after that. Didn't run at all today, wanted to make sure my knee made it through the week.

Orienteering 1:17:59 [3] 3.29 mi (23:42 / mi)

SWSW Night-O - Catalina State Park

BF and I did this one together. First half was on pretty easy terrain, second half was a little more difficult. I took the lead on navigation, since BF's ankle was bothering him. Navigation went smoothly, and there was even a full moon!

Hiking 2:39:51 [3] 3.7 mi (43:12 / mi)

Hiked up Picacho Peak. There were a couple sections of rock scrambling where they had installed cables, it was pretty fun.
