back to back weekend. 8 miles first thing in the morning on the lesser used section of the rail trail. Saw just a few people on the way out, and a decent number more on the way back. Morning running is definitely going to be the new normal for a while (and thats fine by me :) ).

I had started mapping this park (ohiopyle) a while ago, but we hadn't gone out to run it yet. Its in the same vicinity as the ultra we are running in June, but the park has a big network of trails. We planned a route by referencing the park map, MTN Bike project, all trails, etc but there was still a decent amount of uncertainty in sections based on the quality of information in those sources. We were aiming for 20.

The first loop we were right on our guess at 7.5. It took us through the more popular sections of the park, so we got it out of the way first thing, well before the masses were up and out of bed (We didnt see anyone). The second part of the run had involved more guess work, and around mile 15 it became apparent that the full plan was going to be closer to 22. There werent a lot of options, so we dropped a 3.5 mile loop, and added a climb up a another hill, but neglected to realize there wasnt a good option back down, so we ended up bushwhacking. Ended up a little short, but not too bad

Trails were in good shape. some were rocky but for the most part pretty dry and very runnable. We didn't see a single person the entire run - thats what I call social distancing! Made a few wrong turns, including up someones driveway, and the back side of Pressley Ridge was pretty difficult to follow, it definitely doesn't get much use - but I'll refine it on the map and we'll be prepared for next time.

Legs felt way better than last week, which led me to think it must be flatter... Nope! pretty much same elevation as last time, and basically 9 miles up in a row. So I think the warm weather and wet trails had a big impact last week.

Another park in the rolodex. Really enjoying the ability to mix it up so much and keep trail running fresh.

Tempo run. Really nice, and went ASAP after work, but I think we'll have to go to mornings only.
